I contacted different Indian Restaurants to host a monthly birthday luncheon at my job and I came across The Great Indian Kitchen. I noticed there wasn't a catering menu for me to order from. However, there was a contact number on the website. I called the number and the individual on the other end answered with "Hello." I was thrown off because I expected a more professional greeting such as "Great Indian Kitchen, how may I help you?" I asked if this was the Great Indian Kitchen and the individual said "Yes."
I proceeded with the request and mentioned that I would have an accurate total of those participating in the luncheon by the end of the upcoming week so I would know how many persons to order for. I called the same number again and provided them with a catering size and also asked for a discount. I was told it would be $360 for 25 people however if we wanted a discount, something could be done. The number of participants in the lunch decreased from potentially 25 persons to 15 persons. We were asked to pay $300 for 15 and I found that undoable so we asked for a discount and were priced at $200 for a meal that would feed 15 persons. We agreed to that price and I was sent a invoice via email to pay half the total up front, yet I was charged a 60% payment, not half. I also asked for an itemized bill of the order but I NEVER received it.
The day of the birthday luncheon, the driver was 45 minutes late and we received a SMALL platter of chicken that didn't feed 13 people, let alone 15 people. I also received comments that the Naan wasn't cooked all the way and that the middle of the Naan was mushy. Also, I tried asking for the spices used in the Chicken Tikka Masala but I am unsure the individual understood what was being asked. I was only told that it wasn't spicy. However,
However, I was told by those participating in the lunch that it was spicy. I knew that from the moment the individual answered the phone that something was going to go wrong but I didn't expect EVERYTHING...

Read moreI wish I could give 0 stars. The entire story - we ordered idly and dosa. I called them to confirm the wait time. They guaranteed that food will be ready in 20-25 mins at max. Next - I called after 30 mins asking for the status. They asked me to wait for 15 more mins. I called after 15 minutes, they asked me to wait for 10 more minutes. I waited and called again. Then they didnât answer. After 5 minutes, someone calls me to inform me that they are not able to make the dosa. They said that the quality is not coming out to be good. They asked me if I wanted veg biryani instead (like what even?). I asked them if it will be ready instantly and they said Iâll have to wait for 5-10 more mins for the biryani. I came to Miami for tourism and we had some plans for the day. After this, I just took the idly and left. They did not bother refunding or sending a sincere apology for this. Now, the chutney that came with the idly did not taste fresh. The sambar did not taste good. The idlys were cold. Solid waste of 1 hr 10 mins and $34.
Note : this place does not...
