Infusion — Restaurant in Michigan City

Stopped in on Wednesday afternoon. Two employees behind the counter. Both not paying attention to the customer in line. Waited for close to 2 minutes to be acknowledged. The place was not busy at all. Order the Three Cheese Trio Panini’. They panini is usually prepared with large bread slices, be it sourdough or some other type. Took it back to my room. Opened the carry out box. It was just a large toasted cheese sandwich. I started to eat it. Could not eat anywhere close to the crusts. It was either quite stale been frozen, who knows? Cannot believe that I paid $14.50 for this trash! Should have requested a refund. Actually, horrible. Pre pandemic, Nelson’s Deli was quite good. After everything opened up again, their food was not that great again. Learned that their breakfast and other sandwiches were all prepared ahead of time. Tasted badly. Then earlier this year or so, the Mexican restaurant in a very small place opens up in what was previously the gift shop. The Twisted Lime or something like that? Their food was so darn good. Couldn’t wait to get back to the Blue Chip last week and enjoy their food. Saw it all shuttered. Big disappointment. If the food venues don’t step up at the Blue Chip, the Casino will lose many of us old time patrons. I’ve been coming to the Blue Chip since they first opened in August 1997 when there was only the small boat that needed to leave the dock...

So this place is absolutely the worst place. Went in for a panini and a chili. Pay and waited and waited and waited. About 25 min not exaggerating. That alone will keep me from coming back. But wait there’s more. When I saw the person that ordered after me get there food I went to inquire what’s the deal. At that point they finally tell me they are out of chili. Why Oh why did they not tell me. Also the so called panini was not a panini. It was a toasted bread sandwich. I had to wait even longer for the manager to arrive from who knows where to get my refund. I asked her is this a panini she said yes I pointed to the picture they had and I said no this is a panini. With an attitude she said oh that a different type of panini. Do not waste your money I know it’s convenient being in the hotel and casino which is probably how they stay in business because anywhere else they would fail. I hope they take this review seriously so they can improve. As for me never again...

Allow me to clue all of you in on something that I personally know. This is the place that replaced Nelson’s, right? Everything is pre cooked and never fresh! I used to work there when it was Nelson’s and can tell you how they had me prepare bacon and make the sandwiches then wrap them in cellophane and put them onto a sheet and stored in a walk in cooler. All they would do is remove them from the cellophane and throw it an oven behind the counter for 2 minutes and charge $7. Those fruit cups they had? Sometimes sit in the cooler or display case by the register for DAYS! It was NEVER fresh! They had an employee who used to literally pick apart the pieces of chicken used for chicken salad with her BARE HANDS! That burger you just ordered? FROZEN PATTY THROWN ON A GRILL!
