TL:DR Great waitress and tasty apps, but the kitchen mishandled my food intolerance scraping mayo off instead of remaking my burger left hungry after spending $80.
Review for Double Dogs
Rating: ★★☆☆☆ (2/5)
There are a few things I want to make clear up front:
Our waitress, Savanna, was wonderful. She was friendly, attentive, and clearly bothered by what happened. Any negative points in this review are not aimed at her, but at poor management decisions and a careless kitchen.
I’m a former head cook I know how the industry works, and I’m realistic about mistakes. But what happened here was still disappointing.
I have a severe intolerance to mayonnaise even small traces make me violently nauseous. The Experience: We came into Double Dog on a busy Friday night. The whole area was packed, but we got seated and ordered drinks and jalapeño cheese sticks, which were fantastic. No complaints there.
We decided to keep it simple for our first visit and ordered burgers: my wife and daughter each got a BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger with mushrooms and fries. I ordered the same burger but with mac and cheese on the side.
Unfortunately, our order was rung in as regular Bacon Cheeseburgers instead of BBQ Bacon Cheeseburgers. That meant the sandwiches came with lettuce, tomato, and mayonnaise. For my wife and daughter, it was a simple fix add BBQ sauce and enjoy. For me, that wasn’t possible because of the mayo.
I told Savanna, and I apologized for the inconvenience, she appologized as well then took the burger back to the kitchen. While waiting, I tried my mac and cheese and quickly realized they use mayo to make it creamy which immediately made me nauseous. That’s not something I’d expect to know ahead of time, and sadly it is something that has become more normalized... so I let my family have it, no biggie.
Here’s where it went wrong: my “replacement” burger came back in under 3 minutes. As someone who’s worked in kitchens, I knew immediately what that meant they had just scraped off the mayo, swapped the bun, and sent it back out. I could still smell it, still taste it, and couldn’t eat it. The Bottom Line: We spent over $80 and I left hungry, disappointed, and regretting the visit. Mistakes happen, but cutting corners like that especially when it involves a food sensitivity is unacceptable. If the kitchen had simply remade the burger from scratch, this review could have been very different.
Savanna did her best, but management and kitchen staff need to step up. Why 2/5: Positives: Great appetizer, friendly and professional waitress, lively atmosphere.
Negatives: Major mishandling of an allergy/intolerance issue, poor kitchen effort, and lack of care...

Our Condo Association went to Double Dog’s tonight for supper. This is the second trip we’ve made. Our whole group wasn’t able to sit together tonight but 2 groups were at 2 long tables and the rest of us were grouped into parties of four at the square tables. Danielle was our server tonight. She was incredibly sweet and took our drink orders and very quickly brought them to the tables. She came around and we ordered our entrees. She very patiently answered our questions. Several of us thought about ordering the chicken pot pie. It sounded delicious but we were afraid that it was going to be a lot more food than we could eat so several of us had to rethink and bless her heart she was so patient. I ordered a chicken tender meal and fries as my side. My husband ordered a Bacon Cheeseburger with Onion Rings. One of the other ladies at our table ordered a Mushroom & Swiss Burger with a side salad. And the last order had been ordered in shifts, first the Onion Rings with hot buffalo sauce and then later when our orders were coming out she’d have chicken strips. Danielle kept our glasses filled. While we waited for our food the conversation turned to dogs, and of course I had to get my grand-puppy’s picture out. We really didn’t have a long wait to get our food. We all enjoyed our food and agreed that the food was really good. Danielle came around to figure how many checks there would be at our table, came back very quickly, and handed them to the correct person. We really had a great time. The ambiance in the restaurant was family oriented. There were so many TVs, I didn’t even try to count them. It was a bit loud but we were still able to hear each other talk . Before we left, my husband went over to the host desk and bought bags of peanut butter dog treats for us to take home as Easter gifts for our dogs. We’ll...
Read moreWe were visiting Louisville and arrived into our hotel room late. We were hungry and decided instead of running out to use the Uber Eats delivery service. We searched area restaurants and were elated to find a Double Dogs nearby. We love Double Dogs and have visited other locations in Nashville on many occasions. So our decision was already made and we could not wait to receive our order.
My wife and I both ordered the Chicken Club Sandwich with a side order of Thai Pasta Salad. We have eaten this order at other locations and love it.
Once our food arrived I dug into the sandwich while my wife went for her pasta salad. YUK! The sandwich was dry with absolutely no mayonnaise, the chicken must have been left out for the day because it was also extremely dried out. After a few bites followed by a drink of water after each bite to help wash it down, I finally gave up and leftover 2/3 of the sandwich for the trash. The Pasta Salad had the pasta along with some onion and peas but was also dry, there was no, zero, zilch Thai dressing or seasonings. The pasta was extremely starchy and virtually impossible to eat. My wife had already stopped eating hers and told me to eat it. We ended up throwing the entire order away because it was not edible as delivered.
After throwing our $33 order into the trash uneaten we left the hotel and hit a Waffle House up the street, which we should have done in the first place.
The sad part is we have always loved Double Dogs, and have left all the other locations 5-Stars. If this had been our first time we would have never gone back. So, we will hit Double Dogs when we are back in Nashville but otherwise, this was a once and done for...
