We visited this diner during a family trip to Middletown based on its 4.7 Google rating, but it was definitely a letdown. From the minute you walk in you notice cramped and uncomfortable, the space is. Because of how narrow it is there's barely room to move between tables & the counter when the seats are occupied. Alot of excuse me's were heard. While the owner was friendly and clearly a local favorite, the food didn’t deliver. Ordered the steak & eggs and it came small, overcooked and underwhelming, the coffee tasted like gas station brew, and drinks were served in cheap plastic cups. Yes those disposable red ones(see pic) My wife’s meal was just as forgettable, and only the French fries for our daughter were decent. Not sure how this place earned such high reviews — we wouldn’t recommend it.

I haven't been here in maybe 20 years, I like the look. Great service! The atmosphere was that of a hometown diner, of course. I had the unique and very tasty shredded homemade corned beef hash with eggs, home fries and toast, combo priced right, and Frank's Red Hot available. Everyone seemed happy and made the experience even better. A vintage diner that has been part of Middletown for over 60 years. Main Street Middletown has many outstanding restaurants, none better then the Ford News, everyone needs to try this place.

Cool little diner. Staff was very friendly and the food came out super fast. It was fresh and hot and cooked right in front of my face. It felt like eating a home cooked breakfast and the prices are beyond fair. This place was great. Make sure you try the home fries they are great, cooked with peppers and onions. There was even an old man in there sleeping at his table with a news paper which gave it the home town diner feel that I love so much ! Great little spot loved everything about it !!

I ordered takeout for my family for a Good Friday brunch. We all had pancakes. Eggs. Toast. Fried potatoes. The pancakes were burned black on the bottom of each one. The potatoes were BLACK AND CONGEALED. Forget the scrambled eggs. The only thing not ruined was the toast. NOTE: This is the second time this once iconic restaurant has served me and my family ‘burned’ takeout. And I really love this cute little place! It breaks my heart to have to give Ford News Diner such a poor review. I can only hope the past 2 times were due to some unseen circumstance. Cause honestly, I have had some great food from Ford News Diner in the past. I have eaten some really good breakfast and lunches from there. Everything from omelettes to scrambled eggs with sausage or kielbasa to a simple BLT or grilled cheese with their tasty homemade potato salad on the side. They have a really varied menu that will have something to satisfy everyone. This pandemic has affected the quality of meals, at times, from some restaurants that normally have a solid reputation. Hopefully, my two poor experiences were just a ‘blip’ on the radar for...

Just got my keys to my office today (Noema Hypnosis & Healing) a block from the Ford News Diner so I wanted someplace special to eat as I moved in and this place really helped me understand why Middletown is so special. I met Kay, the owner, and she was so sweet and very welcoming to the neighborhood. She has been at this location for 38 years!!!! Her son Kim is now running the family business and Gloria does a real good job on the griddle. I ordered chicken fingers, fries, and a hot dog. The fingers were the freshest I have had in a long time. Really, really good! The hotdog was also great! I ordered it with sauerkraut, bacon. Ketchup and mustard!!! All real good!!!! She has so many photos up of customers!!!! She really is proud of her restaurant and the city of Middletown!! Make sure to stop here and say HI to Kay, Kim, and Gloria. The place is a part of the...
