Red & Black Cafe — Restaurant in Middletown

So I thought a cafe would be a good place to go for a cup of coffee. Not this one! I just got a small house blend and for $2 and change characterizing it as mediocre would be very generous. Basically it sucked.

However, as you can see in the photos the facility is really nice. It's a good size, well laid-out, clean and warm. No doubt this place attracts a trendy crowd with all the little rich kids from Wesleyan within walking distance of the school. Good thing too because the parking is terrible. I saw only metered parking. I suspect the quality of food and drink is likely less important than the ambiance to the students so they'll keep coming back spending mommy and daddy's money.

It won't find me here, I'm not...

Not many vegan options... The only protein option they have for sandwiches is hummus, and most of the time they don't have any in stock! Pretty disappointing to drive all the way there to realize they don't have anything you want to eat. All the other food is good, if a little pricey. Yummy...

Good student cafe with well made sandwiches and a great selection of drinks and sides. Service is friendly and quick, and on the weekends the seats are usually filled with students. Great place to grab...
