First off, the restaurant is incredibly clean. It smelled amazing, and the staff greeted us immediately. The cashier was engaging, knowledgeable, and didn't rush us as we checked out the menu.
On Thursdays, any burrito(except shrimp) is 11 dollars. They come with lettuce, pico, salsa, cheese, and guac. You can also add rice and beans inside for free! I ordered the carne asada burrito, and my husband chose carne asada, brisket, and quesa birria tacos and a side of rice and beans with a drink.
We sat down to wait and realized they had a salsa bar! I wished I'd had gotten a picture because they have a lot of options. While my husband was getting his salsas, the owner came over and offered to help him pick out, which would go best with his order, and my husband said he was spot on!
My burrito was a good size and all the ingredients were so fresh and flavorful and the way they wrap it I was impressed that every bite had a bit of everything in it instead of getting a mouth full of just guac or cheese. The star of it was definitely the carne asada! It was tender, smokey, and had a great charred flavor to it. It came with chips on the side, which were fresh and crispy and went great with the avocado crema.
My husband started with the brisket and every bite he was oooing and awing. Next was the asada taco, which he also loved, and it was loaded with tender meat, onions, and cilantro. Last and final, he had the quesa birria one in consommé and he said it's one of the best ones he has ever had. The tortillas are fresh, and they don't skimp out on toppings. The consommé had a deep, rich flavor, and I even used it to dip my burrito!
The only thing that was just average was the rice. It was good but nothing to write home about. I liked it in my burrito, but I don't think I'd get it on the side again, though. My husband added his leftover consommé to it, and it definitely punched it up.
The owner came over to check on us, and he is incredibly nice and engaging. He was telling us this summer they are going to try to do taco Tuesdays on the patio with a grill, which we will definitely be attending! There is a lot more on the menu we want to try, and we can't wait to go back, especially for the carne asada and quesa birria. Last mention is their prices are quite affordable, in my opinion and...

Letâs talk about the gourmet tacos first â a true masterclass in simplicity and balance. The name might make you pause, but one bite and youâll understand. These arenât just tacos; theyâre a celebration of umami. The heat is perfectly measured, enhancing the natural flavors of the meat while letting the quality shine through with their hand made tortillas. Paired with their house salsas (especially that smoky roja), itâs a minimalist masterpiece.
And then⊠thereâs the brisket (suadero) taco. Pure taco royalty. Melt-in-your-mouth tender with that slightly crispy edge that only a proper sear can give â itâs smoky, savory, and unbelievably juicy. You can taste the love and hours of prep that go into every piece. Wrapped in fresh, warm tortillas and kissed with just the right amount of lime, this is the kind of taco that makes you close your eyes and say, âThis. This is it.â
Pro tip: grab a hibiscus agua fresca or horchata to cool the heat and complete the journey.
This isnât just street food â itâs soul food with a modern twist. Sal y LimĂłn has officially raised the bar for what a taquerĂa can be. Five stars...
Read moreVisiting the Salt Lake area from San Diego, where authentic taquerias are plentiful, I I was excited to try Sal Y Limon, hoping it would live up to the good things Iâve been hearing about it and interested to see if it had anything that would make it stand out. It far surpassed my expectations!
We started with freshly made, warm tortilla chips and a generous serving of guacamole. The guacamole was the âreal dealâ and did not disappoint. Then we shared a shrimp taco, a blackened salmon taco, a quesa birria taco, a Baja fish taco and three crispy potato tacos. We chose salsa crema, pickled red onions and the house salsa to add to the tacos but also enjoyed the taco flavors before adding anything else to them. The kids were happily eating their chicken tenders, burrito, fries and churro bites, allowing us to enjoy our gourmet tacos without worrying about not being able to find something for them that was kid-friendly.
This was such a fun meal because, along with the classic Mexican flavors that I expected, I was repeatedly surprised and delighted by different twists that elevated and differentiated the flavor profile of each entree. It was clearly made from high quality, fresh ingredients that left you feeling good after eating. I found myself thinking that I could hardly wait to come...
