I first heard about "Marlow's" at a little league baseball game. I met a man there that said he was from Philadelphia. Immediately I asked him how he liked our cheese steaks here in central Ohio. He then began to tell me about a new place that opened recently at Creekside in Gahanna, OH. He said, "if you want a real Philadelphia cheese steak, you have to go to "Marlow's" at Creekside", in Gahanna. Naturally I was intrigued, as a lover of cheese steaks.

The first day I traveled to Marlow's they were closed. Not deterred I went the very next day, as it was the next day they advertised that they would be open. On that day, while pulling up, I witnessed countless people walking up to the door and suddenly walking away. Undeterred I parked and walked up to the door. The owners greeted me with sadness surrounding them. Unfortunately, they expressed, they were closed due to a young employee passing away long before his time.

The owners seemed like very warm and friendly people. They were sad at the loss of one of their employees. For most entrepreneurs this would have been a moment of respect and then on with the money machine. Not for these folks. They closed their entire business out of respect for someone who had worked for them. for only a short period of time.

I chat with the owners for a short while, helped them clean up some strange buckets left in front of their restaurant and promised to return as soon as I could.

The next day I rushed to conclude my business for the day because I knew they closed earlier than most restaurants, during the weekday.

On the third visit to Marlow's, three days after the first, I arrived to find a long line of people either trying their Philly cheese steaks for the first time or returning once again, because they just couldn't resist.

I stood in line, at the counter, where a very nice young woman took my order. I didn't know exactly what to order so I opted for the "Marlow's Way" and the "Classic Wiz Wit". I ordered them to go as there was no room to devour them on site.

While waiting, the young woman behind the bar remember my visit the day before and greeted me with a friendly smile and hello. The entire place was packed to the gills. I knew at this point something special was happening at "Marlow's" Creekside in Gahanna, OH. Anticipation grew as I waited for my name to be called. It didn't take too long, considering how many people were ordering and waiting. At last my name was called and inside that plastic bag were two Philly Cheese sandwiches I couldn't wait to try.

I took them home as I am lucky enough to live almost within walking distance. Once home with these two sandwiches I had my doubts. Many times have I been fooled by someone telling me they know of the best Philly cheese steak in town. This was NOT the case that day.

The bread, Marlow's has delivered from Philly every week. The meat was amazingly ribeye steak. Anyone knows an authentic Philly has cheese wiz. Yes, Marlow's didn't disappoint. Every single bite was pure heaven. The meat was cooked to perfection. The peppers and onions were nothing more than heavenly.

From this point you can probably imagine I was more than impressed to have a REAL Philadelphia Cheese Steak restaurant right in my back yard.

The folks that opened the restaurant are real friendly folks. They're from Philly and they felt in their bones that Central Ohio needed to know what they knew, there's nothing like an authentic Philly Cheese Steak. They were right.

Lucky for me these folks are in my neighborhood. If you've never been to Creekside in Gahanna, OH or if you've been a regular visitor, you MUST experience a true...

Amazing cheese steak sandwiches, totally legit, wonderful place, highly recommend. I've been waiting for this kind of Philly style to arrive in Columbus for a long time. The sandwiches and fries, both are really great. 5 stars no doubt.

However... And this is what confused and frustrated me enough to hold back one star. No hot sauce. None. Not on the side option, not in little packets, nothing to add a kick for the fries or anything. Nada. I will bring my own next time, but that just confused me. I would happily offer to work with owners to get some local Black Cap or any option on the menu for folks who are pro hot sauce. The other disappointment was eating "in" which is a great atmosphere, place etc, but getting a plastic bag, with the sandwiches wrapped in paper and foil, handed to me so I could walk 5 feet, sit down and eat my sandwich with much of the cheese stuck to the wrapping instead of on the sandwich was a heartbreaking waste of cheese. Just look at the photos of sad cheese everywhere. Then I walked 5 feet and threw the trash away, realizing in real time, how much of a waste of plastic, foil and paper it took instead of serving the beautiful sandwich on a paper tray or something, not wrapped etc. Perhaps this is leftover from covid "to go" mentality, which is understandable, but should be reconsidered going forward. It was a bummer ending to a great experience otherwise. Sorry about the long review, but I really liked this place and only want to see it get...

Was at a Car Show down the street when we took a break for lunch. We walked to Marlow's - recommended by the Promoter. As you walk in, you find a simple eatery with simple seating and a bar. Nothing Fancy. The Prize is in the Food! WOW!!

I'm from NY, and have family in Philly. That's where my Sister introduced me to the Original Philly Cheesesteak. I haven't had one outside of Philly that tasted as good as my first one, until I walked into Marlow's. I ordered a simple one with cheese, peppers, and onions as well as an order of fries. Fast service, my cheesesteak was huge, more than I expected. Thankfully it was cut in half. The fries were flat, too thick to be chips, but mostly flat and delicious. Not too salty but with a hint of seasoning. From the first bite, I thought my tongue was going to slap my brains out...lol...the cheesesteak was That Good. The fries didn't disappoint either.

As I sat with friends, eating and listening to their conversation - I wasn't interested in talking, too busy eating, I noticed the eclectic array of Customers who came through the door. It was evident this is a well established and popular place to grab a reasonably price meal. I happily wrapped up the other half of my Philly Cheesesteak and ate it later that evening...smiling with every bite. When I return to Genesis Audio LTD for future car audio shows, you can bet, I will sneak away to enjoy another Fabulous Philly Cheesesteak and Fries at Marlow's!! You...

If you can snag a seat at the bar when you enter Marlow's in hopes of dining in, consider yourself lucky. All the (well deserved) hype around Marlow's makes it a busy place most of the time (or at least when I go). There's a full service bar and the bartenders are friendly and quick to take your drink and food order. Marlow's participates in Gahanna's seasonal cocktail trail so I always ask what new seasonal drink they have but there are also seemingly endless options of cocktails to choose from or water ice for your designated driver. If the bar isn't your thing, you can order from the host stand and find a table to sit and wait for your food. All the food comes out to-go style but Marlow's welcomes anyone to dine-in. If you've been living under a rock since they opened, Marlow's has the best cheesesteaks in Ohio. I always get the Classic Wiz Wit. It's a huge savory cheesesteak but I somehow always finish it no matter how much my stomach is begging me to stop. Fries are not an afterthought here either, they're perfectly seasoned and no matter what add on's you put over top they are crispy and delicious. You're definitely going to be walking out of Marlow's with a full, uncomfortable belly but you are absolutely not going to regret it.

My husband and I read about this spot and we were intrigued to see who was in the old Arepazo location. We went on a Saturday around 3ish and we were able to order right away at the kiosk. The menu is simple and the drink options (non-alcoholic) are Pepsi bottled products. My husband ordered a Philly cheesesteak and I ordered the loaded fries with chicken. We found two seats at the bar and my husband ordered a Moscow Mule to sip on while we waited for our food. Once our food was ready, someone handed us a black bag containing the fries and cheesesteak with some plasticware. I was a bit surprised at this since we intended to eat there. The cheesesteak was a cheesy mess and my husband loved it. 😂 The fries were good and equally cheesy. 🧀 Overall, the food was good but the cheesesteak was a bit messy to eat without a plate. Perhaps this is more of a "grab and go" set up but there were multiple TVs on the walls giving the impression people come here to watch sports. I dunno, I hope they offer dishes and silverware in the future for those who wish to eat there. 🍽 Especially in the era of single-use plastic becoming an ongoing issue. Oh yeah, and a drink dispenser instead of bottled drinks would be cool, too.
