I typically don't leave reviews online but the past few times including this evening we have had pretty bad experiences here. We've eaten at Cheddar's tons of times and it's usually awesome service and pretty good food for the money. The past two times we've had the same server who hasn't been that great either time. Tonight we came in, were seated and waited patiently to have our drink orders taken. After about ten minutes our server came over (also the bar tender, with an empty bar) and took our drink orders which were just water. We also ordered an appetizer. After an additional ten or so minutes we finally got our waters and when she finally brought out the appetizer it was cold. At that time I asked if we could have some of the crescent rolls they give out, because my 1yr old wasn't going to eat the buffalo shrimp we got and I noticed other tables were getting them but we hadn't. I was nice, and I always am to servers and food service staff because I know their jobs aren't always easy and I've had a few in that industry myself. She rolled her eyes, made a remark and walked off, then came back with some eventually. My son was happy and content. After we finally got our food that we waited over a half an hour for, it was also cold (I ordered the Monticristo, which made me sick to my stomach after having less than half of it). My wife's order was incorrect. We had some of the food and decided to go since we'd already been there for close to an hour. Our drinks were empty for over 20 minutes (again, just water) I couldn't get the servers attention and finally decided to ask another server for some boxes and figured out how to check out on the ziosk myself. To add to the experience - within a half an hour of leaving, I've already had to throw up. This sucks because we usually have a good experience here and I'm not the type of person to leave reviews, let alone bad ones. I know waiting on people with kids isn't every servers favorite thing, but we always pre bus our tables, make sure there isn't food on the floor, and I usually tip 20-30% when we have good service. This was by far the worst experience we've had here and I don't know if we'll be going back anytime soon. A glass of water doesn't last an hour and a dinner out should never result in puking from food that's too greasy and getting an attitude for trying to...
Read moreWe used to give this restaurant 5 stars!
We are thrilled to give this restaurant such a great rating. We've been there about 3 times and each time the food and service have been superb. On June 7, 2018 we stopped in and ordered the Salmon and Strawberry Salad and the Grilled Chicken Alfredo. Both were perfect, tender, tasty, fresh and the best quality food. We love the atmosphere and we have found the service to be top shelf! Keep up the 5 Star work, Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen. We'll be back many times!!!
It is now August, 2019 and we've been back a few times since this review, and it continues to be the only place in Erie that we want to eat. The ladies that seat you actually make eye contact and speak to you like a human being, instead of an action to just get through, an on to the next. The grilled salmon entree is perfect by being tender and moist and great taste. The staff is a well-oiled machine and (obviously) well trained. They are attentive, efficient and polite/kind. It's always a busy place when I've been there. The staff seem to handle the workload easily. Much appreciation to Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen and service managers for excellent training and for providing super quality food in a very nice atmosphere.
Sadly, it is now March, 2023. We stopped at our beloved Cheddar's in Erie, PA to find a very different restaurant than what we have experienced since 2018 and 2019.
Assuming it's changed hands.
To begin, the restaurant lacked customers which has not been our experience in the past. We ordered the salmon with rice and two sides, one of our favorite meals. It was lacking in freshness and taste and it was hard to think this was the same meal we've always loved. Neither my husband or I ate much of it. The salmon had some sauce thing on it when we had asked for it to be just grilled. Rice was disappointing and we split a baked potato that was not edible, it had been grossly rolled in salt. Horrible.
The time before we stopped and were seated in the bar. We called the manager over because the booth seats and the blinds in the windows were very dirty and dusty.
What happens when a once really good restaurant nose dives into blah, and why? We definitely will not be back...
Read moreMy review pertains to the customer service I received today. I have ordered the same salad from Cheddar's previous times in the past few months for lunch, and always choose to do curbside pickup. I have always checked in to my spot when I got there through the text link they send me. I have never had any issues doing it this way. Today, however, was a different story. I got to Cheddar's right at the time my order was supposed to be ready. I checked in to my spot the same way I always do. I waited for almost 15 minutes before I thought "hmm this isn't right maybe they missed my order". I decided to call, and a woman named Wendy answered. I politely let her know that I was here to pick-up my curbside order and have been waiting for a while. She proceeded to kind of scoff at me. With SO much attitude in her voice, she let me know that I need to call when I get there and I can't just park in a spot and expect them to bring out my food. It honestly took me by surprise that this was the response I got. I proceeded to try and let her know (the reason I say try is because she wouldn't let me speak) that I did in fact check-in through the text link and she laughed and said, "oh I don't even think that works, you need to call". I let her know that I have had no issues in the past doing it that way before. Note: If it doesn't work or this isn't the way you do it any longer, then why is it an option for customers? Anyways, I ended up getting my order finally after 20 minutes. There is NO reason to be rude to a paying customer, who is simply just wanting to know why their food hasn't been brought out yet after 15 minutes. I was not rude, I was not mean, and I had no attitude with this woman. So, the fact that it was given to me just made me feel disgusted. I didn't even get an apology. My salad was good, but the chicken was cold, and I wasn't given a honey croissant this time, which I am always given with my order. I love the salad I get from here and I would like to come back and continue using curbside pick-up as I have before, but I cannot and will not tolerate being spoken to this way if I have to go through that again just to pick...
