My daughter came home for vacation and she's craving for Cajun seafood. Most of the seafood places that my kids know are in SJ. My daughter wanted to try this new place Cajun Crack'n in Milpitas. It's replaced the Black Angus restaurant that we used to go while the kids were little. How time flies and now it's a seafood restaurant. It was a Monday after 6PM, we didn't have to wait inline. The restaurant is clean and decorated with 2 pirates as soon as we walked in the door. The kids missed their Black Angus but get used to the new environment now. The young servers were quite pleasant and attentive. A simple 1 laminated sheet of menu with quite a few dishes on it. I noticed right away the catfish basket, I love deep fried catfish since I've been in Alabama and tried it. So I knew what I wanted, the catfish and the Gumbo Soup that I like. I don't care much for the messy Cajun seafood that my wife and daughter are going to get. There are 2 combos, and they decided to get the big one, combo 2 for $90. My son wanted the chicken Cajun Fried Rice to be safe and will try some of the messy Cajun seafood. The garlic fries seemed to be tasty so we ordered one basket. For my fries that come with the basket, my daughter wanted to try the lemon pepper fries so I ordered that for her. Catfish basket and Gumbo Soup (with rice): For me this combo is perfect for a dinner. The price is reasonable. The catfish fried perfectly, crispy outside and juicy inside, the fries are great, a little sour for me but I had the garlic fries were wonderful. The Gumbo Soup is amazingly tasty, the portion with rice under is not to big nor small. I would order this next time I come. My son liked his Cajun Fried Rice, he ate it all in a heart beat, he also liked my catfish and the garlic fries too, not too crazy about the lemon pepper fries. My daughter and my wife keep complementing the seafood inside a big bag, dumped it on the big plates: snow crabs (1lb), crawfish (1lb), green mussels (1lb),. The sauce was so tasty, the house sauce. The apron and gloves are a must. I had some sausages and crab, the sauce is confirmed excellent. My daughter ordered some steam rice to eat with the sauce and it's perfect. The sauce is a little spicy, she finished her Shirley Temple so fast and started with ice water. We did finish everything, even the sauce LOL. The damage was $183 which to us was reasonable with the amount of food and the quality of the food. We'll definitely come back here again. My son doesn't remember the last place he went in SJ. We may try that...
Read moreMy family and I had the pleasure of dining here on a Thursday evening around 6pm. We were fortunate to be seated immediately, as the restaurant quickly became crowded after our arrival.
The ambiance of this place is absolutely incredible - it exudes a cool and fun vibe! The restaurant is spacious, with an abundance of tables and seats. From the moment we walked in, we were impressed by the exceptional service and the highly-trained staff. Our waiter, Corey, went above and beyond to make our dining experience unforgettable. He greeted us with warmth and enthusiasm, guiding us in selecting the most delightful dishes and drinks from the Yelp elite menu. Corey checked on us frequently, ensuring that everything was perfect.
Now, let's talk about the food - oh my goodness, it was a fantastic and generous feast. The fried soft shell crab, accompanied by the sweet chili mayo sauce, was simply divine. The spiked strawberry lemonade struck the perfect balance of sweetness and alcohol, catering to my preference for a lighter alcoholic beverage. To add a touch of sourness to my liking, I squeezed in some lemon - a creative twist, don't you think? :)) .
We also tried their macaron ice cream which were pretty good, not too sweet as well. We wanted to have the ube cocconut flavor but it's sold out - probably the most popular. We'll have it next time then.
However, the true highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the boiled seafood. We opted for 2 lbs of head-on shrimps which were big. I especially enjoyed sipping the flavorful juice from the shrimp heads, combined with the house special sauce - it was absolutely amazing! Corns were yummy. This restaurant truly succeeds in every aspect, from the texture to the flavors, everything was spot on.
One drawback: their restroom has an unusual design where the person inside is quite visible. This made me feel quite uncomfortable as I didn't want others to accidentally catch a glimpse of me. I hope they will fix...
Read moreMy friend regular goes to this place and last week she introduced me to it. Tuesdays and Wednesdays are $1 oysters all day!
Three ladies had a girls night out. We started with 2 dozen house oysters, which came out quickly. I was so impressed with the freshness and the taste...needless to say, they went down smoothly and we devoured them! So we ordered 1 more dozen house oysters and another kind (can't remember the name), the crab broil special with the shrimp and corn on the cob added. Since it was happy hour, we also wanted to try the calamari and the fried pickles, which I was sus, but the server said they were her favorite. Ok, we went with that.
Crab broil special was fun! You out on your plastic bin, gloves if you want and have at it! Good thing the table has the disposal liner, easy clean up. I did notice that most of the utensils, sauce containers and even cups were disposal.
Calamari were small, nothing special. I did NOT like the fried pickles, which fell apart when you bit into them, the batter was not good. Pass on this.
I have to say the oysters were a hit! We ended up order another dozen and polished that off as well. I like the $1 oysters best! Fresh and chilled and with a squeeze of lemon and some cocktail sauce, perfect. They did not have horseradish that day. The Tabasco sauce was too spicy for me, my taste buds are wimpy now that I am older.
Overall, the ambiance was cool and a fun place for families and groups. People were writing on the walls, which if you're into that, go ahead.
The servers were friendly and attentive, especially since my friend comes here weekly.
I'd come back again, in a heart...
