OK. Another sandwich shop. One I've never heard of so... no expectations.
Had this at work. A colleague had ordered after a major company event and I was a happy recipient of his graciousness. Thanks, Chris. Next one is on me. Had this at work and decided to not eat with my other 2 colleagues because, as always, I prefer to dine alone at work, and in general, not at all for lunch when on the job. However, the setting was the Milpitas campus. Outdoor... beautiful courtyard in the fresh open air, still Covid times so almost no one around or walking by to spoil the scenery.
OK. Sandwich time. Nice packaging. Very professional branding and tightly wrapped. As a former Subway employee, I appreciate good delivery of a sandwich. Not everyone does this well and this was very hospital bed corner well done. Heading in, Togos is my standard and Erik's Delicafe is a fav. I digress (or did I, since that gives you a point of reference?) First visual impression: well constructed. Not sloppy, tidy. Let's see under the hood... also clean. Everything from the meats to the veggies are well managed, not falling out. Could do a little better on the distribution of the meat (every bite should be the same from the middle to the end) and nothing seemed shiesty. Good portions. Bread is soft and also feels fresh. Not like it was sitting around drying out.
Taste? Pretty good! Amazing? No. But pretty good! Subway has better tasting bread. I could eat it like a breadstick. This is just good bread and I can''t stress how important that is. You can have great internals but bad bread can still ruin that wich. This supported the good internals and made for a solid offering all around.
The Sandwich Spot left a positive first impression with me. I would not turn it down and would speak favorably of it if the option arose but would not likely go back on my own. Togos is still a comfortable king for me. But this is a single tasting. I am not compelled to try other sandwiches there but if the opportunity arises, I would not...

Main Review:
Please ignore the reviews from more than a year old. This location is now under a new owner. I started coming here regularly and I was charmed by the attention to detail of this location. Almost everything is fantastically made. I met the owner, Robert, and he changed cooking standards to improve quality. The tri-tip is made fresh every day and never frozen, unlike before when it was shudder kept in the freezer for three days after being cooked. He also works the line with all of his employees, so this place is managed well due to the improved perspective. I respect establishments that have these kinds of owners. The employees were also knowledgeable of their menu and are clearly very happy and friendly from the higher morale.
Onto the sandwiches! I recommend almost everything. The french dip needs work, but the true star is the tri-tip sandwich. It is fresh, juicy, and full of flavor that is compounded by their sauces and delicious bread. Because of this balance, these sandwiches are built to make you eat even more sandwiches.
Because of this, this is our main sandwich place that we frequent every week. You won't...
Read moreNew to milpitas and my favorite sandwich is bbq tri-tip since this place was the only one that came up I decided to give it a try even though it seemed more of a deli sandwich place, anyway I called in (3) times to order for pickup and no one answered and finally answered the fourth call and disregarded the whole conversation regarding how many times I called with a rude response I ordered anyway and I WOULD NOT recommend their "Tri-Tip" sandwich the meat is so thin and a little tip from myself to this business, if your going to make tri-tip please make sure it's GRILLED not oven roasted so they should not even sell this sandwich at all especially for their priceand also thanks for NOT toasting my bread without any flavor and lastly a BBQ tri-tip sandwich doesn't just mean that it should be cooked on a grill it also means there should be plenty of bbq sauce in it which there was NOT. I could have just went to the grocery store bought roast beef and a slap of bread with bbq sauce and even that would have tasted better. Would not recommend to those who are true tri-tip...
