Pastries were fantastic, lots of choices sweet and savory, and THANK YOU for offering to warm them up and eaten as they should be!
Lattes were okay. The miel seemed like it was missing the honey (we usually think they're too sweet, so thinking it's not sweet enough never happens). The seasonal bourbon caramel was really watery, maybe due to the default oat milk, but I usually get oat milk and use it at home and have never had that issue. All the flavor was at the bottom, too, so the top was bland, the middle okay, and the bottom undrinkable.
The space is beautiful (the plants are fake which is understandable, but a let down) and looks comfy, but unless you have a big group you're going to be sitting on couches with other people and it wasn't easy or comfortable for our family. There are also A LOT of dogs. We love dogs and usually the more the merrier, but it's hard to eat at coffee tables (especially with kids) with dogs at the same height.
Staff was awesome and at 9:30am on a Saturday we barely waited. Everyone was friendly and efficient. I think if I was a single Northloop resident I could come enough to find a drink I liked and would cuddle into a smaller spot with a book or laptop, or meet up with another family or two and take over a section like I saw some others do, then I'd...
Read moreCame to this place on a late Friday afternoon. It was at 90% capacity but not busy. No one in line, Two full sofa and a few chairs were available for seating.
The girl who took our order seemed dis interested and disconnected. She asked us what we’d like, when I responded with if she can give me a few minutes to look at the menu, she sat down right away on her chair behind the counter un occupied and un bothered.
After we placed our order and paid (yes, I tipped the standard 20% regretfully), she proceeded to bag our croissants and handed them to us without saying a word. When I asked for my croissant to be warmed, she responded with, ”Our oven isn’t working”. It would have been nice to know my croissant was going to be cold, stale, and hard.
Upon receiving my macchiato after 5-10 mins, it was disappointingly distasteful. Very, very sour and did not taste like coffee at all. The drinks here are also served in paper and plastic cups. Having been to smaller and less aesthetic cafes, I expected more.
We were left hungry, un caffeinated, and disappointed. My $34 and some change could have been better spent elsewhere. Blackstory Cafe, please do better. I’d advise any coffee fanatics to go somewhere else for better...
Read moreI rarely write reviews unless the service and overall experience are either exceptionally commendable or noticeably poor and unprofessional.
This coffee shop features an inviting atmosphere with a spacious open layout and high ceilings that lend a welcoming air to the space.
Regrettably, the service did not match the appeal of the venue. We waited 32 minutes just to place an order for two lattes, and after a total wait of 40 minutes, the beverages were served, albeit cold.
During the wait, I observed a staff member meticulously crafting latte art, though the final design remained ambiguous, while another team member supervised. I approached them to mention that with such a long line and extended wait, it might not be the ideal time for latte art training. Their dismissive response, "we want to have fun”, only amplified their apparent disconnect and lack of understanding of the situation. This reply struck me as dismissive and unprofessional, especially considering the obvious need for more efficient service in a busy setting.
Overall, despite the attractive ambiance, the significant delays and unsatisfactory handling of customer concerns greatly diminished the...
