I liked to rate my experiences with brunch restaurants on seven categories: the wait, the service, the food, the quality, the cost, the coffee, and the vibes Neil's restaurant blew me out of the water for what I was expecting. The wait - none at all. Walked and grabbed an open seat . Granted I got there at 830am and they open at 8am. The service - the waitress was friendly and patient. There was also an older gentleman who would go around with a carafe of coffee and ask if you wanted to be topped off, as frequently as they refilled your water. Which was also frequent. The food - delicious, warm, flavorful, and big portions. I was recommended the corn pancakes by my fiancee and they did not disappoint, two was a lot of corn pancakes to try and eat but the flavor was great from something that I would not have expected. The cost - a cup of coffee and two corn pancakes for around $15. I cannot complain about that. The coffee - Was really good. Honestly, probably better than the corn pancakes. I have no idea what they do. Again, there was a man who would go around and ensure you mug was never empty and the just as exciting the coffee the served was hot, but not overly hot that just feels like it's 210° and if you touch it you get blisters. The vibes - very nice cafe tucked away in some other builds. Minimal decorations and the posters on the wall seemed like they were up so long the sun had faded the images. Don't change what isn't broke!
Overall I'd rate Maria's really high, and recommend it to anyone I know going through the area. Definitely one of the better breakfast places I've tried in...
Read moreI've ordered from Maria's a few times. Today I called in and ordered what I ha ordered the past 4 days. A South African burger with Pineapples, and American cheese instead of Swiss, corn chips and Salsa.
I walk in, I pay ($13.30)with a $20 and give the waitress with the blonde hair with res highlights in it the rest of the change. That's a pretty decent tip considering how much my food was, especially when i didn't have to tip because I came to pick it up.
I get my food and check it and there's Swiss on my burger and some type of "fries" . I tell her and she tells the people in the kitchen what its supposed to be. They take an extra 7 mins of my 30 minute lunch break to pretend to make a new one. I get the burger back and it does now have American cheese on it and chips but I can still see Swiss cheese all over the bun and pineapple that comes with it. 😒 Then I ask for my Salsa and the waitress tell me it doesn't come with it and it's extra. I ordered it over the phone though.
So now I'm even more irritated that she didn't just give it to me because I had originally ordered it AND because they got my order wrong. Instead she proceeds to tell me how much it costs to get...
Read moreArrived with a party of 3... ordered our food.... they brought out 2 of our meals.... 10 mins later I approached our server and inquired about my meal... LOTS of excuses, but bottom line was that she had not submitted my order when she submitted my dining companions orders and had to submit my order for the 1st time. She knew this as soon as my dining companions got their meals but decided not to tell me. Had she approached me when she knew of the error that would have been OK, but instead she avoided telling me of the error even when I approached her to ask where my food was. Asked to speak with the manager who informed me of the servers error and went above and beyond to apologize for the error and offered a discount. The server never apologized! Gave 1 star because of the managers actions. She was great! The manager makes you want to come back and spend your money. Teach that server to be truthful with the customers, especially if they ask you whats going on with their meal and it's an "HONEST" mistake. No need for deception in the food...
