I came in with a party of 6 total and we sat on the patio. I ordered a salad and onion rings as an appetizer. Not only was I the last one in my party to receive my food, I didn’t get the onion rings till after the salad had arrived. Secondly the salad was $12 for 3 ingredients, Romain lettuce, cucumber and diced tomatoes. In my opinion the salad was overpriced for it being so simple and plain. I cannot understand why two very quick dishes were brought out last out of burgers, sandwiches and other peoples HOT meals around me. Either my server forgot to ring my order in or just didn’t care for me all together I don’t know. Our serve also continually came to the table without the items we had asked for. For example me and one other person in my party ordered the brownie sundae that comes with ice cream and a brownie. We were not brought spoons for at least 10 minutes. But our server had come out to the patio a few times in that 10 minutes. Now I used to work in a restaurant and can say I understand how hard things can get if it’s busy but, it was not busy and there were multiple servers sitting and chatting when our party came in. I was very disappointed in the food and appealed by the...
Read moreIn 1997, I brought a U16 Boys team, Avalon FC from St. Louis to the USA Cup soccer tournament. We stayed on campus and when we finally got knocked out in the quarter-finals, I took the team to Stub and Herb's to celebrate our strong showing. It was a terrific experience for the young men and for Stub and Herb. We led the crowd in a rousing rendition of "O'Reilly is dead and O'Leary don't know it." Nearly 20 years later, I will return on October 28 or 29th. As fate would have it, my daughter Stef [Golan] is the women's soccer coach at the University of Minnesota. They are having a terrific year, ranked nationally. I am flying up from Tucson for their final regular season game against Illinois. NO WAY would I come to Minneapolis without returning to Stub and Herb's. Look for me and I will lead...
Read moreMy wife and I went for dinner. I had a chicken wrap. My original order was for tater tots, but the meal arrived with sweet potato fries instead. The server did offer to exchange the side, but I am fairly easy going so I said it didn't really matter and just leave them. The wrap was adequate, but some of the sweet potato fries were still raw. The air conditioner was running and dropping water on the floor. There was a visible puddle next to our table. The wood panel floor was also broken and pieces were missing next to our table. Lastly, there were gnats flying around our table, and the place seemed run down overall. For what we paid for the meal, I could think of several places in the near vicinity that would have been a...
