As a caregiver and daughter to a wonderful dad who has a very rare rapidly growing form of cancer, my family and I are a bit discouraged by Hope Lodge. There's a time & a place for families to discuss a sick loved one, grieve, and speak on very private things regarding all plans post death and it isn't in a common area where other guests are free to walk in and out. Thus, guests are restricted to "only the first floor". In addition, my niece 4 yr old was very tired but wasn't welcomed to nap in our room😞. (There was no way she'd fall asleep in a common area). It is within our cultural practices and beliefs to never restrict a family member under such circumstances especially during a detrimental time! With all the respect I have in me, I saw a lack of minority patients and caregivers staying here. Read moreThis is a wonderful place to be during your treatments for Cancer. The staff are very helpful and you have access to transportation to and from your medical appointments. The room you stay in is like a large hotel room with a bathroom with a walk in shower. You have access to a small cupboard, stove, refrigerator and oven to cook and a large dining room. Everyone eats in the dining room. You meet people who are also battling Cancer. There are groups who come in and make meals for everyone who is here and there is a community refrigerator that leftovers are put for anyone who wants them. We have been staying here for two months and can't say enough about Hope Lodge and the wonderful staff and people we have met at the Lodge.
