This used to be my go-to place after working a shift and I was satisfied pretty much every time ! ...up until 2018 started. Three out of four times I go to this Grape road location there's a problem, so they're closed, most often without notice but later in the same week they'll post a small sign with details. Oddly they keep the place brightly lit with the shades up so it's deceiving even from a short distance. If it's not some random maintenance (stretching for weeks/months at a time) then there's no cook. At a (24/7) restaurant. I liked it best when some poofy haired fellow was teamed up with an elder Hispanic cook. Those two got things done in rapid succession and were always in a good mood.
Pro tip: Make it clear if the joint is open or not. Turn off the lights and pull the shades if staff aren't feeling like doing their jobs. Keep it lit up like Vegas and the only clerk there will be having to tell 100 people who walk in to go away. I've been here all hours between 10pm and 7am so I know there can be some or a LOT of business so do have someone on standby. I haven't had many issues as other people have commented, with the offhanded language, behavior, and excessively long wait times for simple things. That's rare, and likely to happen ... I guess 11am to midnight, especially weekends when half the city is at this one location. O_o
Update: It's been some time since my last visit and I was turned away again. As always, the place was brightly lit, cleaned, and the doors were unlocked, I walked in just to be told 'drive thru' only. What? Why? I always get something to-go and it's a minor request but seriously.... why are you letting people in just to tell them to get out? Is this a personal thing they have going on or what? I was going to go back after 8 months of this original post but apparently the reviews are getting way worse and I hear from a coworker it takes 45 minutes just to get a grilled cheese and water. This restaurant has degraded so much I will never return until I see the overall score...
Read moreIf I could give this negative stars, I would. By far the worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant in 30 years of living. Greasy haired cook was wearing no hair net or cap while cooking, waited an hour for a Western BBQ and Bacon burger with fries, cheese, and a root beer. At one point I looked at the screen and didn't even see some of the other paying, waiting customers orders on the screens and I never would have got my food if I didn't bring this to there attention and kept my receipt. Never got my root beer or the cheese, because by the time I got my food I just wanted to go home. Had one customer walk in 20 minutes after myself and another customer, got his food within 15 minutes because he was friends with the cook, after walking in 10 minutes after the rest of us. Then the cook clocked out while multiple customers were still waiting on our food and not a single manager was in sight or apparently working according to the one waitress they had for Saturday night. Multiple paying customers had walked out without even getting there food or a refund, because there was no manager to offer refunds. I would have left too, but that establishment wasn't getting any free money from me. Absolutely pathetic service and I hope this establishment gets shut down and replaced with something better. -5/5 stars. Felt bad for the waitress and I tipped her just for having to deal with that dumpster fire of...
Read moreThoroughly unimpressed and disappointed. My family and I came in at non-peak hours. There was only (1) order ahead of us and no orders in drive through. We came in at 16:09, and ordered 4 entrees. My Bacon Cheese Double Combo, came WITHOUT the fries I ordered. My bacon cheeseburger ALSO didn't have the bacon. My son's Triple Cheeseburger Combo with LG cheesy fries, came WITHOUT the cheesy fries and only came with (1) patty and NO BACON. My other son ordered a grilled cheese with bacon and grilled onion. It came WITHOUT the onion. My wife's fries were cold and stale. We had to go and get all their errors fixed. The restaurant had a distinct "sewer smell" from the plumbing, as soon as you walk onto the foyer. I will not come back to this location. The staff seemed not to care too much about our extremely inaccurate food order. To top it off, the napkin dispensers were completely empty. When we asked for napkins, they handed them to us, with ketchup already on the napkins. The floors and table were sticky. The restrooms were dirty. The staff was standing around and shooting the breeze. This experience was just atrocious. I expected better from Steak and Shake, but I guess their standards have lowered. I've also sent a copy of this review to their...
