I decided to try out Brooklyn Pizzeria on a recommendation from a friend and I loved it .. I lived in the New York / New Jersey area for 30 years and there's nothing quite like the taste of a freshly made pizza for anyone that's lived or worked in that part of the country. I'm not sure why pizza from that area tastes so distinct.... I've heard it's the water used in the dough, but I'm not sure if that's a fact or just an old wives tale... I can honestly say that Brooklyn Pizzeria is just as good as any of the local pizza joints that I grew up enjoying so much. Everyone may have had their own favorite local pizza place, but anyone can tell you what a good slice of NY pizza tastes like. Many New Yorker's will fold a slice of pizza in half while quickly eating it (eating while walking, talking , driving etc). Well, I decided to put my first slice of this pizza to "the fold and eat" test to see if it would make a mess in my lap... AAA+ because it passed with flying colors!! It wasn't oily or greasy, the cheese and sauce didn't drip all over my shirt or pants while eating and driving .. Everything stayed in place just like it should... My slice tasted great right up through the crust and the bottom of the pizza was nicely baked with just the right amount of crunch. The pizza didn't get soft or squishy from excess grease dripping through the dough onto the box. That would've been a pizza fail!! This pizza was perfect in every respect. I noticed they even sell single slices of pizza, something I haven't seen in the Houston area. I've tried all the big pizza chains like most people have... The same places that seem to care less about what a customer thinks once they've placed their order. Have you tried picking up the phone to change your pizza order?, or to correct a problem?, or simply ask a question? It's nearly impossible to reach your local pizza chain delivery place anymore.... Your call gets routed to a call center in the middle of nowhere.. A lotta good that will do ya if you have a problem.. I've learned from experience that it's better to speak to someone at the specific location that I choose to patronize whenever possible. I saw on their website that they offer online ordering, delivery and takeout but I decided to call ahead and speak to a "real" person, someone that actually worked in this place.. I asked a few questions then placed my carryout order which they said would be ready in 10-15 minutes....I went inside, was greeted promptly, and my pizza was ready on time, I asked if I can get some napkins to go and they gave me a stack... They even asked me if I needed any toppings for my pizza, paper plates or forks , which I thought was very nice of them. I didn't get charged extra like a big chain might have done...... if they actually offered plates, forks or extras... I've tried many local mom-and-pop establishments while traveling the country and haven't had anything close to the taste of NY pizza .. I noticed they offer many of the typical hero/sub sandwiches, dinners and desserts available in most local NYC pizzerias..... the next time I order I may try some of the other menu options.. I highly recommend this place to anyone who enjoyed local New York-New Jersey area pizzeria's or anyone who wants a great tasting, handmade pizza made with fresh dough and quality ingredients. This will be my number one choice...
Read moreI am a third time returning customer and to summarize my first two times: great pizza and okay service. My third time, today, THE CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS HORRIFIC AND I WILL NOT BE COMING BACK. Today, my entire family and I went for dinner, ordered a salad, and three HUGE pizzas. The man who took our order was very rude, especially as my first impression. Secondly, for the $8 salad that I paid for, it was DRENCHED in dressing to the point it was soggy and tasted horrible. Additionally, the waitress gave my family of 6 one bowl and fork to share the salad with. When I asked for more bowls and forks, she ignored my request. I asked her again, where she brought me DIRTY small dessert bowls, which I did not allow my family to eat out of since it was weird, small flakes in the bowls. Also, when I asked for ranch, the lady was not paying attention to me AT ALL. Finally, she charged me 50 cents extra for a small portion of ranch ????? LIKE HUHHH SHOULD'T THAT BE COMPLEMENTARY SINCE I ORDERED 3 XL PIZZA'S SIS???!?!?!?!??!??!!!!! LOL to top it all off, they didn't even give us a serving utensil for serving the pizza and had to use our hands to get the hot slices. The paper plates that they gave me to eat in were also hella dirty. They also gave me a Margarita pizza that had basil that was NOT BAKED ON THE PIZZA!!! THEY LITERALLY SPRINKLED BASIL ON THE TOP TO THE POINT IF I ATE A SLICE, EVERY LEAF OF BASIL FELL OFF!!!! LIKE WHATTT KINDA PIZZA????!!!!!??!?!?!?!?!
As a loyal customer (and i come here a lot...mostly take out) and an experienced 2 time international finalist in business, specifically hospitality, I would like to say my experience today was so horrible and I was given dirty dishes, horrible attitudes, and neglecting waiters (lol not hospitable AT ALL....which according to my expertise, is not at all good for any business). Therefore, through my Word of Mouth marketing, I will be informing my fellow network of friends around Sugar Land and Mo city of my experiences, informing them to never go here ever again. I am very disappointed because overall, the pizza is good, but the experience and employees are a HUGE turn off to me and my family, and soon enough my entire network of friends...
Read moreWelp, it seems Brooklyn Pizzeria has taken a turn for the worse. My family and I have ordered takeout from this establishment dating back to 2018. That first year it was decent. Coming from NY, we had our fair share of excellent pizza. Compared to NY, Brooklyn Pizzeria is a 6/10. Nothing to brag about but it was better than some local franchises in the MoCity/SL area. They produced a tasty pie and their customer service was very pleasant and courteous. Sadly, this is the first time ordering takeout since early 2020 and the experience ordering over the phone was disheartening. The person taking our order was aloof, uninformed about their website pricing, and scoffed a couple times when asked to eliminate toppings and cook the pie well done (it wasn't). The website states a large pizza can be purchased for $13.29 with each half topped with a different specialty pizza topping. Fantastic deal, too bad the store didn't know about it nor would they honor it (See attached picture for reference). As for the pizza itself... Bland would be an upgrade. The crust underneath is not crisp - the slice flops and the cheese falls off. Our veggie toppings were not seasoned. And the sauce is so weak it couldn't punch it's way out of a wet paper bag. Those tomatoes were plucked in vain - what a said end to be used in a flavorless, red puree. It is such a shame that this review is not a one off. I gave the benefit of the doubt in hopes the other recent reviewers were wrong but they weren't. The food is 2 stars out of 5, the African American gentleman taking our order over the phone was just as dismissive and borderline rude in person - I want to say he's having a bad day but recent reviews have pointed out his subpar service (I miss the old crew of jovial youths that gave service with a smile and a helping hand). It is unfortunate but making flatbread pizza at home is now the new takeout. I wish Brooklyn Pizzeria the best of luck and hope they make...
