MIC DROP SOCIAL KARAOKE BAR & LOUNGE — Restaurant in Missouri City

This is not a karaoke bar at all.

My initial impression from the parking lot was not great: the outside of this establishment is all but inviting. The exterior might even suggest a whole different kind of bar (the kind either poles and scantily clad ladies).

Anyways, we went here for a birthday party. The idea is that we would all gather for a good time with drinks, food and karaoke. So let’s start with the karaoke; there hardly is any chance for karaoke because on Friday nights there’s DJ with an ego too big for the place. He seems to be there to give himself a good time and keeps playing music for 80% of the time while folks are waiting to sing their karaoke songs. In the three hours we were there, only about 10 folks got the chance to sing karaoke! Between karaoke performances this DJ insisted on playing 10-15 minutes of his own favorite songs.

The quality of the sound equipment the DJ uses as well as for the karaoke is abysmal for a supposed karaoke bar. You can barely here the singers over the loud poor quality background track. The decoration of the place is all hard surfaces so… yeah…

The food: the menu is basic at best. The usual bar fair. It is grossly overpriced especially considering the quality of what is dumped in front of you on cheap trays. The must have some underpaid teenager in the back running agressie pit or something but seriously.

The drinks… probably the main source of income at $15-20 for a cocktail. A hard push for alcohol here with almost zero non alcoholic beverages on the drinks menu.

My friends and I rented the VIP room for a Galentine's Day celebration. It comfortably fit 15 people. We had a great time! We loved the system in place to queue up songs and add pictures to the screens. The service was very good and helpful. It was really great that they were willing to charge individual tabs instead of everything on one card (something we've had problems with at every other karaoke place). We wish there had been some Taylor Swift songs available! But we had a great time and all the other song selections...

So cute. So convenient. So reasonably priced. The food, drinks, and service were good. This may be a regular spot for me to defuse after work.

I do recommend having a DJ between sets to add to the turn up and letting people know about the $25 card hold in advance. Though its a safeguard and gets returned, we need to be given notice.
