Can’t speak for their food- I’m sure it’s fine. But as for catering I give it the lowest rating. Javier, the owner, was very hard to get ahold of. My mother spoke to him first on the phone and was given a bid- once he emailed us the bid to sign and place our deposit it was higher than was discussed on the phone, and he even acknowledged the price change. I asked if I could chat with him to discuss the pricing, timing of event, and menu laid out in the bid. Again it was hard to get ahold of him. When we finally got on the phone together he told me he could not compromise at all on the price due to the travel and staffing- which I understood and did not want to haggle the travel cost at all. I wanted to drop the appetizer and one meat option and was told that wouldn’t change the price either- I didn’t understand how so I requested a price break down of food, travel, etc. He refused and said he’d already spent too much time on me and that if I wanted to “cheap out on my wedding and go with another caterer go ahead.” And then said he could not recommend a single other caterer and proceeded to talk bad about several other caterers in town. He said i was asking him to compromise on food quality because I asked about other meat options. Personally if I’m spending $45/ plate for an event I’d like to be able to change the menu to my liking and know the price break down. By the end of the phone call I was in tears because of the way he was speaking down to me- calling me cheap and accusing me of requesting low quality food. He said he was not going to cater my wedding and we hung up. He will not give you any menu options with differing prices, will not give you a price break down, and is not a nice person or good businessman to work with for catering. Regardless of his opinion of the pricing and menu the way he spoke to me was unacceptable for...
Read moreStay away from this terrible place. We went with it based on the ratings we read, but it turned out to be a fiasco. We got the most costly margarita because it says that it had the best tequilla. After the 1st sip, we experienced a severe headache and a sensation of vomiting. Something was definetely wrong. We immediately informed the lady that the margaritas tasted really horrible, were quite strong and made us sick. And told her we didn't want them, but she didn't try to help and answered agressively that eventhough we didn't drink them, we still had to pay for them. Then we asked to speak with the manager, but the outcome was not better; though she spoke pleasantly, she kept telling us that we are not used to drinking fine tequila like the one they put in their drinks, and that we are unwell because their tequila is good and our bodies are used to terrible tequila. What a great reason to get a headache and become ill! Unbelievable!! A manager convincing us that we are sick because they offered us a super good tequila! What a shame we were sitting sick in front of them, and instead of caring and asking how to help us (a problem that they caused us because of their bad alcohol), they were only talking about their amazing tequila and complementing their restaurant and drinks while we were suffering and trying to move. Our glasses were full missing only 1 sip. A decent restaurant and competent management are primarily concerned with these details and the well being of their clients, which is not the case with this restaurant. To highlight as well that the service is terrible and the food is less...
Read moreFor the last 15 years, Miguel’s has been my favorite place in Moab...until last week. I went there with my 4 young children without my husband. I have a baby, a toddler and two older children. So, clearly my baby doesn’t need a chair & wont be eating. My toddler will sit on a chair but most likely would share a plate. I asked how long of a wait the hostess said at least 45 minutes. Then, she seated all the other guests waiting. Then, 4 adult men walked in and asked how long the wait was...she said I can seat you right now. Then, 2 adults walked in and the same thing happened. I asked her why she could seat the 4 adults but not us...her reply, our tables are only big enough for 4 dinner plates. I said, well obviously my baby isn’t going to eat and my toddler is going to share so you don’t have room for the 3 of us to eat...her reply, sorry it will be at least 45 minutes. What?! Terrible service!!! We walked out. There is no need to treat anyone that way! It isn’t fine dining, it’s very casual but obviously kids are not welcome or a single mother who isn’t going to consume alcohol isn’t welcome either. There are plenty of other restaurants in Moab who welcome everyone. There is no need to try Miguel’s. Like I said, I’ve eaten there plenty of times through the years with my husband. It is good Mexican food but you can find great Mexican food WITH great welcoming service & staff...
