We went around 11am today (5/4/19). The restaurant was not busy and very few people were there. We had a wait to be seated while other customers were being waited on who were already seated. No one came for several minutes to seat us, while 2 other groups came in. I believe the only reason they seated us when they did was because no other individuals could come in the door without seating us first.
Most people won't mention this, but I will. We happen to be white. The individuals behind us were white. Just so happens, a black lady who arrived just a second before us in the door was seated several minutes before we were and was being attended to while we continued to stand and wait to be seated. Did we have to wait to be seated because we were white? I don't know for sure, but it sure looked that way. They weren't busy (very few individuals were there) and they were super lazy at seating customers at the very least.
We received ample time to look over the menu. The waitress was polite and friendly to us. She was attentive at checking on us and refilling drinks when needed.
We did wait longer than expected for thin pressed burgers for the amount of individual customers who were in the establishment. The burgers were not good, were not fully cooked, and not warm enough to melt the cheese placed on them. Most Steak and Shake restaurants have their burgers served hot, with melted cheese, and a crisp sear on the meat patties. This particular restaurant might want to try that in future. hint, hint, hint
I watch my surroundings and what happens around in a restaurant. We were lucky in that we received the most ambitious waitress in this establishment. She was what should be considered average however. The others, were lazy at best.
If you enjoy lack luster food served lukewarm and rolling the dice with service then this is the place for you. Otherwise, I would avoid it, like we will...
Read moreokay everybody it gets even worse my most favorite go-to restaurant of all time is now in the just above average not better than average category and here is this is an updated review for October 6th.... I go in there today and get what I allways get every single time I go through the drive through a number 17 ( which is the triple meat hamburger it's always 3.99) today with zero warning at all and notice it was gone off of the menu I ordered it she did not say that it was not available or there was anything different than before..... when I got to the window the combo had a $2 increase in price ....but it had the exact same two items it's always had a burger and a fries no drink ...I said you mean to tell me y'all jumped exactly $2 in price ....she said yes or kind of..... that was her exact reply. so my thought on this is my check is never went up $2 an hour why should an increase be that!! as much as I love this restaurant chain ,they get the orders right about 85% of the time ....it's either they forgot this they didn't add that or they put something on it that I didn't even ask for this is so sad !!! a $2 increase at one time not a little bit as your check might adjust for inflation ....so my question is where is this extra money going ???!?!?! it sure is not in the quality of food or in the service ....the service has actually gotten worse I had to ask for napkins....Updated review 😠 How in the world can you screw up a WRITTEN order!!!!????!?!?!?!?..WHY!?!? 3 #17. 2 regular way.. (1 no lettuce tomatoe no onion extra pickle) and 1 large Coke Zero and 2 Diet coke..The online order was pd online... What I got was 2 Diet cokes 3 burgers ONLY meat and bread on ALL 3..how stupid can you be to not be able to read!?!?!?!? So after explaining 2 straws and a missing drink i drove off then found out meat n bread!!!!!!...
Read moreIt wasn’t too busy tonight, it was almost empty inside when we pulled in. I ordered the frisco melt, add a patty, and someone else ordered chili-cheese fries with their meal. My melt was supposed to come with three patties after adding one, but instead it came out with only one patty, and the jerk in the kitchen was short and rude to the server when he tried to get it corrected. They still tried to charge for the extra patty I never received; after complaining, I finally received the second patty it originally comes with and just ate it as-is.
The chili-cheese fries didn’t have chili, and when we reminded the server, we received a cup of chili on the side and they tried to make us pay $4 for the chili. Then the manager made the server pay for it, according to the server. We kept asking for mayo and refills, as well as silverware. The server kept trying his best, but he was getting overwhelmed by our table and the other table he was waiting on.
We asked for the manager and she never came, but she did come into view to socialize with the crew, one of which was openly cussing in the lobby on his way back in from break.
I don’t know what’s happened here, but we’ll drive all the way out to the one on Schillinger. It’ll be a cold day in Hell before any of us ever come back...
