A table for two took over half an hour wait to get seated, not a problem. It's to be expected. But we were seated down and waited for ten minutes before we got up to look for our server. Another ten minutes later, we bothered them again because everyone that came after us was already getting their drinks and appetizers. Then they tell us our server was on break. No one told us of this and why would they sit us there if the server wasn't going to be there? Aren't they suppose to inform their tables if they're going on break and aren't they suppose to have someone else take over their area or look after it while they're gone? Despite that, they still did nothing to help us or provided any more information about someone coming to take our order. Simply told us that person is on break and to continue waiting. Now, that was already enough to irritate anyone at this point, but we told ourselves that this is a new establishment and they're still getting their act together. So we finally got to order our food well over half an hour after getting seated. No apology after we explained the situation, not even a little bit of extra effort. Our food comes out and they're missing some items. We mentioned it and continued to wait until the bill came out. We said they still haven't brought out our missing item and instead of just getting the things we ordered, they come back with a new bill and said they didn't charge for it. I wasn't even done with my food yet. But okay, I'm tired now. And dealing with the poor service and incompetence was exhausting. I packed my leftovers to enjoy it in the comfort of my own table, because eating it there only made it taste worse.
Overall, my experience is sour but the food is what's to be expected of any cajun style eatery. It's always been my favorite type of food, so I'm a little biased towards the flavors. It was savory and you get what you're looking for. But being that there's not a lot of it in Modesto, we don't have many options to begin with. And had there been any other place, no matter the price, I would go there instead. There's no magic, nothing special to make you crave going back. I will still drive out to Stockton or the bay area, even Sacramento to have a nice cajun meal than deal with the service here. Until they get their customer service together and train their employees properly, I don't recommend dining in. Just order your meal to go and enjoy it in the comfort of...
Read moreNOT A REVIEW BASED OFF FOOD, Because I will say each time I have been the food was fantastic (which is why this isn't a 1 star). I have been here before a few times without my son, who is a small child. The service that is recieved for adult groups (of 2 and more) is great. What is disappointing is that I witnessed poorer service not just to me but another group that also had small children. My son isn't misbehaved, he sat the entire time and never once yelled or disrupted anyone else's time, and I know providing customer service can sometimes be tough when experiencing group's like this; however, this is the job they signed up for. I don't appreciate my server cycling through the other tables multiple times and not including us, the other tables all were adult groups. I noticed the same happened to a family that was there and left a bit after we were seated. The mother seemed irritated that her check wasn't there yet, I saw the parents looking around for the server for a while. I don't appreciate that while eating we weren't checked up on while others were. I couldn't even flag down my server for my check because it was almost obvious that she was avoiding even looking at my son and I's table, and I watched her cycle through the other tables twice. When I got my check the bill was over 110 dollars. I ordered a Combo 1, chicken tender basket, (6) oysters, a soda and orange juice which when looking at the bill I knew immediately something was completely wrong and way off. Instead of waiting for the server to come back I didn't want to bother so I went to correct my bill at the front which came out to about 65 dollars. So, again, the bill was WAY off. I personally work in customer service. It PAINS me when people do not treat families with smaller children (or children in general) the same as any other customer, they are human as well. Obviously if I go back without my son I'm probably going to be treated fine but experiencing this and also seeing another family be semi-ignored through their time here just really leaves a bad taste...
Read moreWell, I had high hopes going in to get dinner on a Tuesday evening. That said, they weren’t completely dashed, however, the experience didn’t meet my expectations, but that being said, they were MY expectations. I ordered a combo 2, which was $30.95, and the menu said no substitutions, so that was that. It came with 3/4 # of head off shrimp, that was cooked, but not peeled, sausage, potatoes, corn, and 1# of mussels. What I did like, they flavors were great. Plenty of garlic, which I ordered, and a touch of heat, again, what I ordered. Also of note, before going further, they have cool robots that bring your order to your table, and then the server puts it on the table. Included in your order is a bib, gloves, wet napkin, and plenty of regular napkins. What I didn’t like…the mussels tend to fall out, and are at the bottom of the bag with the garlic and oils used in the cooking process. For one person, it’s a HUGE amount of food as well. I’m a big guy, and I couldn’t come close to finishing near the whole bag. The Coke machine was also not working, so they only sold beverages by the individual can or bottle. A simple call to Coke, or even Nor-Cal Beverage, could remedy this problem in a single day. I’d have rated them higher if it wasn’t for the huge portion sizes and the Coke machine being out. If your a party of two or more, GREAT choice. If you dining alone, might want to avoid stopping by for dinner. The service staff...
