Manse Teriyaki — Restaurant in Monroe

Unfortunate review, but Love this place, it's the best in town for Monroe. The spicy chicken so perfect. The regular teriyaki chicken for others definitely lacking in sauce applied when ordered compared to spicy chicken. Then they charge more for sauce, shoot they charge more for more salad than rice (I am not a big rice eater). The small drizzle for regular teriyaki should not cost more compared to spicy. Hate to say but I make very similar at home with chicken thighs, but have been loving this place for years since have lived here since 98. I am pretty sure we should be one of top customers in 2020 and 2021 🤣 But with price increases for what costs them about $5 (in food) roughly I'm gonna have to take our $ and I will continue cooking at home. Been here twice. First time ordering went ok, spicy chicken teriyaki. Price is a little high but that's not a problem in itself. The food was just not that good. Chicken was tough and rice was a little spongy. Tried to give them a second shot today at around 3pm. Went in and it was a ghost town, nobody at the counter. I stood there for about 5 minutes and noticed all the signage that read "Don't take fork!" And other nonsense. Finally caught the eye of a cook in the back but she didn't act like she saw me. A minute later a dude sticks his head out from the kitchen and simply says "yes?". I ask if they were open and he responds with "you here to pick up?". I say no, but I'd like to make an order? I saw the big teriyaki sign so I thought I would go try it out. The interior of the restaurant can definitely use some love (typical mom/pop Asian cuisine in a strip mall vibe), but the food was great and the portions more than fair.

I got the spicy teriyaki chicken & pork combo and it was great! If I were to make one critique, I would say maybe a little too much sauce. I definitely didn't need the extra sauce I took, but that's just my personal preference.
