RUDE!! Can't wait for this place to shut down so we can get a better option for Chinese in Monroe.
Not sure what's happened here over the last 6 months but we used to order here once or twice each month or so for takeout with the family, especially during the summer. It was nothing particularly spectacular to begin with, just decent food we and our kids enjoyed for an acceptable price. It became a weekend go to favorite for movie nights and was just a quick trip to downtown. NEVER AGAIN.
Called to place an order for pickup. Nothing new, same combo dinners and dinner specials we usually order, no special requests or particular accommodations were requested. As soon as the she answered the phone she told me it would be at least a 45 min wait for pickup. okay, no problem.
So she took my order (4 dishes in total), name/number, and said "45 minutes see you then". I managed to catch here before she hung up to request a total, and suddenly I heard the phone drop, amidst a cacophony of voices and banging sounds. I figured she must be busy and handed the phone off for someone else to give the total, and sure enough I start to make out what sounds like someone doing math on a calculator. That's fairly common so I wait a few minutes and someone else comes on the phone, in very broken barely intelligible English gives me a total of over $100!!
I was a little surprised, since as I said we've made this order dozens of times over the years and although the price has gone up steadily (as expected along with everything else) It usually comes out to about $14-$18 per dish, or $60-$70 in all. So I asked if she would confirm the prices since I expected the price shown on the menu was out of date and just wanted to get current pricing. NOPE. Suddenly she went into tirade about "extra soup" and "30 cents"... honestly I had no idea what she was saying, her English wasn't great and neither is my hearing. (Side note, I'm not here to shame anyone for their English proficiency but it's important to note since it played a role in this exchange, along with my poor hearing). I thought maybe I'd made a mistake ordering the wrong thing or something.
So I tried to explain that I just wanted to confirm the price per dish because the total was quite higher than expected, and wanted to be sure we had the order right. She became increasingly irate, yelling about the "stock market" and "extra soup" (she said this multiple times, still very unclear on this part), and eventually said "you don't want it, okay we're busy" and hung up the phone.
Surely I misunderstood and she didn't actually hang up on me because I asked for the price of the dishes, right? Right?!?
So, giving the benefit of the doubt I called back and the original order taker answered. I explained that I had just called to place an order and may have been disconnected, but she cleared that up real quick - essentially confirming that indeed, they were "too busy" to tell me how much we were paying for the combo dinners/plates and I either wanted it or I didn't. So I didn't.
I've read other reviews about rude staff demanding a tip and that kind of entitled and abrasive attitude sounds right in line with what I just experienced. I suspect they're adding a tip or some sort of service charge on top of their advertised menu prices for takeout but who knows. Frankly I wouldn't be opposed to a service charge if they were up front about it. They seem to be working as hard as they can to drive away their customers and put themselves out of business - I'll gladly help them along and spread the...
Read moreVery disappointed, today is Sunday mother's day my husband and I decided to have Chinese food from the Saigon kitchen in Monroe Washington we live in gold bar Washington which is a 30-mi round trip, place the go order, he went and picked it up came home just to be disillusioned with this meal we ordered 4 entrees and an appetizer and a side order of sweet and sour sauce which the sweet and sour sauce came in a container about as big as a quarter the pot stickers came with a container of dipping sauce the size of a quarter not even enough for two we did not even get soup or a side of rice to go with the four entrees thinking we would have enough for tonight's dinner and have enough for tomorrow's dinner as we normally do when we order Chinese food we opened up the containers just to find that the portions were or more lunch size for a single person The pictures on the website show plentiful ,that is not what happens when you order to go apparently when you come in you get bigger portions because you're there in person so they send these small puny portions out the door so time you get home you won't make an effort to come back or to complain well I'm complainingafter spending over $50 we also only got one fortune cookie being mother's day he was kind enough to let me have it The food was very tasty unfortunately for our $50 I could have went to a different Chinese restaurant Next...
Read moreOrdered to go , was hesitant about there 3.9 stars. I was right. It was awful. I asked about there individual dinner meals and the guy only gave me the one option they had. I chose almond chicken. He said the gravy was good. NOT!! It came with no crumbled almonds and it was in a soy based sauce not your typical almond sauce. The pics on there web do not Match what they serve at all. I also ordered fresh rolls because I love peanut sauce. It did not come with peanut sauce, just the same soy based sauce that the almond chicken had with peanuts sprinkled on top. The Fried wontons were just fried tortillas, nothing inside. I called to complain and the Asian lady kept defending herself even though its not what the pics are and not common to serve with either dish. She then hung up on me. How rude. I'm surprised these people are still in business. If your looking for good service and Chinese food this is not it. You can see in the photos it's a soy sauce that was served with both entrées. They also had a dirty fish tank and one of there Choi was floating upside down and barely alive. I told her about it and she said it ate too much . If they can't take care of there fish ,...
