As long as one remembers he is in Monroe, WA and not Beverly Hills, he will be satisfied with the accommodations (just being realistic and not snarky). Friendly staff and immaculate rooms and a much better an average breakfast and internet service (with Microsoft close by this better be!) are strong reasons to stay here. Staff went out of its way, for instance to make sure the very good hotel breakfast was ready for those who had to leave a little earlier than the usual breakfast time. This is a big plus as was the attitude of all the staff...really friendly and tried to meet the needs of guests as best they could. Suite bathroom tubs are excellent spa type. Did not use TV so cannot comment. Areas for big improvement concern the desk area. A lack of outlet plugs makes plug in devices almost useless. One has to crawl under the desk to find one outlet...not easy as one gets older. Desk lamp provides just average light. So called reading lamp by bed is a joke; I suppose o.k. if you are an owl, but not so good if an older human. If you like rock hard pillows this is the bed for you. Mattress decent. Towels above average. Soap below average. Internet fast and connected without hassle, much appreciated when doing business at night...once one crawls under that desk to hook it up! With a little effort on the part of ownership and management this could be a really outstanding property. Right now it is good for its location. Since this last review, I have returned. Would give one half more of a star to 3 1/2; should be a solid 4 if management/ownership cared. The big guys and gals at BW need to have a talk with the folks who make decisions at this property. Soap much better. Pillows better. Used spa tub this time and it was wonderful. Light by bed is pathetic still in spite of complaints. Internet excellent. Work station area, used to call this a desk in my day, in room 104 has ZERO plug ins or outlets. I was told to check the desk lamp and that this had outlets. I did and it did not. This is unacceptable and unaddressed after two years of notice to ownership and management. BW needs to address this issue above all the others. Ran out of food at breakfast, but while it was there, it was above average. One would think that a nice BW property, after being notified for 2 years about a real set of problems, would do something about them. Back next February and if they will still rent me a room after my comments, geez, I am just trying to be constructive, I will upgrade this review. Frankly, I feel a complimentary night...
Read moreI had tried to save a few dollars on this trip for my niece's wedding, and had booked a room across the street at a competitor's hotel, two months prior. I'd called to confirm my reservation two days before and was told that everything was ready. Oppon my arrival, after a 3 hour flight from Phoenix and a 2 hour drive in heavy traffic, I was told that they didn't have a room, for me and my family (4 of us total). I asked to speak with the manager, but he "wasn't available", so we were "just out of luck". After typing a rather long review of this so called hotel, the manager found time to call me. He explained that although "their website showed our reservation" and he had "all of our information" (ie; number in our party, credit card number, telephone number, etc...) "Angie", the lady at their front desk that answers their phone " is NOT ALLOWED to make reservations. I explained to the manager, "Steve", that I didn't and couldn't have had knowledge of this bit of trivial information, prior to his phone call. "Steve" then went on to say that he hab been "calling me at my cellphone number for days" but that I hadn't "answered any of his calls or messages that he had left for me on Voicemail". That was all the LIES that I could take from "Steve" the so-called "Manager". Unfortunately there weren't any other rooms available, anywhere in Monroe. Until "Maria" at the "BEST WESTERN, SKY VALLEY INN" called me, at my cellphone number. She had a room with one King size bed and she offered to provide us with two roll-away beds for my adult daughter and her husband. I was very thankful, and during my conversation with her I said that my brother and his family was staying there at the Best Western, as well as my mother. Maria asked to put me on hold for a minute, when she returned she said that the room my mother was staying in was a suite with a fold out bed in the couch. She also afford the single bed room at a discount. It worked out perfectly, my wife and myself stayed in my mothers room with her and my daughter and her husband took the single bedroom. We had a great time visiting with my mom and the wedding went beautifully. Never again will I try to save a few dollars by staying at another hotel franchise. Best Western has always been...
Read moreI was quoted 1 rate for my Dad's Christmas stay. He arrives 12/22 and planned to depart 12/26. I called and the woman said my rate was $148.97 period. I was NOT told at anytime during our conversation that the weekend rate would be $161 and $158 dollars and that only Monday and Tuesday would be the quoted rate. When I reviewed my email and saw the discrepancy, I emailed them right back - and was told oh that was the other lady, she isn't here - this is the rate. ?? So while running errands for Christmas I stopped in to explain and straighten it out -
I encountered the 2 rudest people running a hotel - I have no idea where the "friendly staff" went. The manager was rude and condescending and the lady with the long hair and accent just acts like she doesn't understand the language. I was treated so poorly, and made to feel like I made the mistake, which I didn't. I was only quoted 1 price, that should have been my price.
So if you are dealing with these people, do it online and get it in writing - because if you have a conversation with a person onsite, they will make the reservation for whatever they want, they won't fix it, they will blame it on each other - and guess what - you are stuck.
I suggest going 1/2 a block east to the Evergreen Inn, where they truly do have "friendly, honest" people, and book your room there for a consistent single-price & lower rate. Pool, hot tub, and breakfast. You are only missing out on the rude, condescending liars here at the "Worst Western of Monroe".
No one in the service industry should behave...
