BRU Burger Bar Montgomery — Restaurant in Montgomery

This was our first visit to Bru Burger Montgomery and was prompted by Greater Cincinnati Restaurant Week - and we will be back.

My Gorgonberry Pecan salad was very large and tasted excellent, while my wife’s chili was a bowl (not a cup) and was quite filling in itself but tasted “just ok” since it had an unusual flavor in it that tasted like Lilac bushes smell. My Honey-Chipotle BBQ burger was huge (as in too big) and was extremely sloppy to eat given the Chipotle BBQ sauce and Black Pepper Mayo. The fries were unusual in that they tasted somewhat sweet as if they had both sugar and salt on them - not a fan. My Fudge Brownie dessert would have been excellent had it not been for the strawberry purée that interfered with the chocolate flavor of the brownie and fudge sauce. (I’m a chocolate lover.) My wife’s Peach Bread Pudding was amazing and worth a return trip for that alone. The portion sizes left us uncomfortably stuffed at the end of our 3-course dinners, but there was no way we were going to get our warm desserts with ice cream and whipped cream packed up “to go”.

We ate on the patio and it was quite noisy given the metal roof echoing the conversations from all the other tables and the loud splashing of the nearby water fountain.

This was my first time to this location and restaurant, Service was amazing (makayla) was very attentive and social. My only reason for the one star review is when I bit into my Nashville chicken tender appetizer and had a sharp pain in my mouth. To my surprise there’s a bone in my chicken the size of 2 inches! The manager came and apologized for it, but acted like he was uneasy in speaking about the situation. I couldn’t finish my meal. My mouth hurts and I could’ve very well ended up in the hospital or worse and I feel that this situation needs to be handled better then just a “I’m sorry” and “you don’t have to pay for your chicken”. The seriousness of the situation just wasn’t there. I hope this isn’t the way you handle potential future customers. This location could’ve very well changed my future and sadly it won’t result in a return visit. I will be sending everyone this same picture to warn them of the potential risk they have of possibly a child or worse having this happen to them. We made it Bru Burger bar in Montgomery today, giving them a little time to open and work out some of those opening issues.

The pretzels were tastey with a side of spicy mustard. Be ready for the kick of horseradish! And beer cheese dipping sauce was good, but almost more nacho or cheese than the expected beer cheese.

Burgers come as a 7oz patty or 4oz smash burger that can be doubled to create an 8oz. The garlic burger is loaded with actual garlic cloves and aioli, we added lettuce and onion to round it out. Overall pretty good, but not my favorite.

I had the blue cheese burger, swapped the patty into a double smash. The spinach was lightly sauteed and very delightful. I highly recommend this combo.

Fries are straight fresh cut potato to fryer, no batter but tastey sage lightly seasoned.
