After I lost my shirt at roulette, I went to the Clay Pipe this evening. My partner was at the spa so I decided to have a beverage and take in the atmosphere. While the atmosphere is relaxing; I found the ventilation to be sub par. At most cigar bars, particularly the ones I frequent in the larger cities, there is amazing ventilation that allows the consumer to enjoy the ambiance while sipping sophisticated beverages and solving the world's problems. The Clay Pipe's ventilation could be upgraded; but I surmise that since it is located within the casino it may be limited in what kind of ventilation they are or are not allowed to have. I decided to try a drink and asked Kim, a blonde bartender, what her special was. The drink list was a generic list that could be found at any bar, plus some whiskey variations. I decided on an old fashioned, as recommended by Kim, and even asked for the smoke as per her suggestion. I could not be more let down. I actually felt bad for myself that I ordered such a disgusting and rancid drink. The smoke was nothing more than a mirage of a gimmicky up charge. When I enjoy a delicious old fashioned, and it has the correct amount of smokiness, it creates an experience. The smell of the smoke, and the flavor of the liquor makes an indulgence into pure euphoria. I ended up at the bar in the Irish Pub and had a proper old fashioned to cleanse the palate, before I met my partner for a delicious meal at Ballo. (Which is...
Read morePerfect spot to meet up with friends and smoke up a stick and have a drink. Prices are extremely fair for good quality booze and cigars, which was a great surprise. I smoked an Oliva Melanio V with a glass of Toki whiskey.
Went back about 3 months later, met some friends and enjoyed a Perdomo Epicure with a glass of Oban 14yr scotch. The place was busy and they only had the bartender to work both bar and humidors so you may need a little patience to get a stick if it is busy. Later on more staff came in to clean up ashtrays and sell cigars.
Back again in October 2023, had a Camacho Triple Maduro with an Oban 14. Better staffed this time, great friendly bartender that was making good drinks and opening the humidors to get cigars, but a little later when it got busier they had someone just handling the humidors so the bartender can focus on...
