Had a fun time at the Lansdowne Pub at Mohegan Sun. We enjoyed a delicious meal, (mac n cheese with corned beef-$21, turkey wrap-$17 and soda bread-$2, with a Kilkenny-$11 and a chardonnay-$9), and the place was quietly festive. It was a bit dark but easy on the eyes.
For the Mac & Cheese I added corned beef which was a winner. It was hot and creamy and down right delicious. So good that when we got home we bought some corned been and Irish cheese in order to attempt to duplicate the recipe. I highly recommend it. It came in serving dish and it was really enough for two to split if you're not that hungry.
The turkey wrap was wound tight and filled with great stuff. The turkey was excellent and it was a good tasting wrap. Probably not enough to split but it was a good sandwich and very tasty. I liked the soda bread, but my partner wasn't as big as a fan. It's dense and full of raisin and they give you plenty of butter.
The Kilkenny draft was very good but paying $11 for a draft beer kind of gets under my skin. No draft is worth that price. Even a Maine Beer Company "Lunch" is in a 16 oz bottle for about $9 and it's a high end beer at most New England establishments, so $11 for an imported draft seems a bit too pricey for me.
My partner got the Chardonnay for $9 and that's about the going rate for a decent house wine. No real complaints, I can be a little cheapo at times so I prefer to pay $6-7 for any house wine, but it was a good glass of wine.
The service was quick but the only issue I feel I should mention is that the table we sat at (Tbl 24/1, next to the pole) had something sticky on the surface. I quickly mentioned to Samantha that the menu was stuck to the table, but I said it quickly so she might not of understood what I meant and I failed to raise the issue further. I first thought it was the actual varnish dissolving on the wood from some high strength cleaner, but then my wife noticed that there was a used crumbled up napkin behind the salt and pepper shakers, so then I thought that the table just wasn't wiped down properly before we were seated there, (which is kind of worse). We didn't ask to be moved, we just kept our utensils off the table and tried to avoid touching the wood. We did enjoy our time at the Lansdowne and we will return, but cleaning the tables between customers is a core function in the food service industry that should never be overlooked, (especially in the days of Covid).
Stopped in again this past week. This time we had a snack and a drink at the bar. We tried the spring rolls which were perfectly cooked and very tasty and we also split the Mac n Cheese with corned beef again and once again it was absolutely delicious. The service (William 591) was fast and responsive and the atmosphere was festive and lively. The Lansdowne is a bit different and it is not a fast food place, (thankfully) but it is in our "going out to eat" rotation and you will enjoy...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of using Lansdowne Pub as the venue for my sons combined 16th and 21st birthday party. As a business owner, I know the importance of quality atmosphere, service and product and Lansdowne Pub provided the best of all three. We had been to the pub on a previous occasion for dinner and were pleased with the experience, so when it came time to plan the party, Lansdowne seemed like a logical choice. The first time we went to check out their private room we worked with Carlos. He was absolutely wonderful, extremely knowledgeable and made us feel very comfortable with our choice to go with Lansdowne. He then put us in touch with Heather, the events planner. Heather was absolutely a joy to work with and made the entire process easy and stress free. Planning a party for 40 could have been very difficult, but Heather made sure everything went off without a hitch. She was very knowledgeable not only about the venue, but about what we as hosts needed to cover and what our guests would appreciate. When it came time for the party we were introduced to Sarah. She was the one put in charge of setting up the room prior to the party and making sure that everything ran smoothly throughout the entire night. Sarah was phenomenal. Every guest commented on how attentive she was, making every person there feel as though they had their own personal server. The food was delicious (as always.) Each guest commented on not only how quickly the food was prepared, but how delicious each meal was. The final gentleman we had the pleasure of working with was the manager on duty the evening of the event, Kevin. Kevin went above and beyond to make sure hat everyone was well attended and taken care of. He even went so far as to meet my parents at the entrance to the casino, park their car and retrieve it for them at the end of the evening. All in all, Lansdowne Pub was the perfect choice to host our party. There aren't enough kind words to describe the level of professionalism exhibited by the staff. My family and I would highly recommend Lansdowne Pub for any...
Read moreI wish there was NO STAR rating! We USED to frequent this Pub before & after concerts until today. Three chairs at the bar were open and a small table next to the bar. The very polite hostess told us we were welcome to sit until it became busy and they needed the table for dinner customers and we told her no problem. NO customers were waiting anywhere for seats There were about 15 people in the place not counting staff. A male manager came up and said a very similar message to us, and we again said not problem, we were finishing drinks and would be back later for a meal. He left with no other comment. 15 minutes later he came up to the table very aggressively stating he asked us to leave before. (We had full beverages purchased )we were unable to drink; no refund was offered.. He was focused on being RUDE. There were no other paying customers were in the place we were holding up) No lined outside the door and he acted like we were taking business away by sitting quietly enjoying his beer. He then began causing a scene loudly, the few people in the area were looking at us embarrassing us so we followed him to speak to the hostess who said it was okay we were there and she was gone. I ask him to apologize for his ride outlandish behavior, he got in my face He refused saying he was calling security Faking a call on his phone, stating he continued to say he ask us to leave the bar seating area and we ignored him. Totally untrue! Verbal harassment is not acceptable GET A NEW MANAGER we won’t be coming for dinner or drinks again after shows! He was TOTALLY...
