I originally had given this location a 5 star review. I'd dined at 2 of their locations prior to visiting this one, and found the food & service to be consistent with the Manalapan & Marlton locations. Recently however, the level of service took a turn for the worse. Having experienced inattentive and rude servers, my fiancee tried to bring this to the manager's attention and was met with a shrug, and the comment "what do you want me to do?" On 12/27, I stopped in with a party of 4 for breakfast. Same lack of service. To their credit, the food was good. However, having to ask 4 times for a place setting, and when about to ask for a 5th time, another server returns and says "I TOLD you I was coming back!", it detracts from the overall experience. So today, my fiancee posted on their social media page the issues that had taken place, and was admonished by the owner because she dared to critique them while they delivered a happy new year message. He even asked where she worked so he could visit & give HER a review. Unfortunately, that's not how social media works. Much like Google and Yelp reviews, the fact remains that if people are happy with your product/service, they will post their experiences, like them or not. Truth be told, their food is very good. With that said, I won't put my money in the hands of a business owner who takes such a callous attitude towards any customer who critiques their business, in an attempt to help them improve their business. I work in commercial sales, and my career is based on the perception that my clients have of both me, and the products I represent. I encourage feedback from my clients (positive OR negative), whether via private message or on social media platforms. It's incumbent upon me to do my best so that I don't have to worry about negative feedback. While the owner may respond here after this is posted, the change in my review could have been avoided if the issues we experienced were addressed by the manager at the time they occurred. I'm sorry to change my review, but I was...
Read moreCame here for brunch on a Sunday, had about a 15-20 minute wait and about the same amount of time for our food to arrive. Our server was friendly as well as the other staff members, but it felt forced. Never asked us if this was our first time coming in or offered any recommendations, house favorites, etc. no how’s your day been, you know, “conversation”. While the restaurant itself was clean, I had to ask for a clean menu for my son. The kid’s menu was filthy with sticky juice all over it. They need to do a better job with cleaning the menus at least. We had to wait for silverware which was odd.
I ordered the smoked salmon eggs benedict. The pancakes were completely flavorless. Even with syrup and butter, it was just not appetizing enough to finish. Nothing about the salmon was smoked. It had way too many pickled onions which gave off an incredibly sour taste. All the other components of the dish seemed fresh and flavorful. Eggs were poached perfectly but they left the excess shedding on the plate which was kind of gross.
My husband said his breakfast combo was edible but nothing worth going back for. The potatoes lacked flavor and any kind of enthusiasm. Just sad diner food. It’s a shame we’re still on the hunt for a great brunch spot, but so far nothing beats Cafe Lift in Haddonfield. I may return for lunch to get a more accurate review...
Read moreThis was my first time here, not an empty seat in the place but we did not wait long to be seated. Super friendly waitress and she didn't pressure us to order our drinks as soon as we sat down. It was hard to choose with all of the options. I ordered a regular coffee, but I also tried my daughters smoothie and my husbands salted caramel mocha chino. Those were delicious. I ordered a western omelette with potatoes and an English muffin. My omelette looked good and had a good flavor but was watery and not fully cooked on the inside, so I could only eat a few bites. The English muffin was burnt, hard as a rock and was not edible. The potatoes were good but had to pick out the cooked ones as some potato pieces were still hard and not cooked all of the way. The prices were decent and portions were pretty big. We stayed for a few minutes after paying as we were chatting with family we haven’t seen in a while. They were still very busy and I’m sure they needed our table so we wrapped up our conversation and headed out. The best thing was them giving me a to go cup for my coffee. I guess that’s their sign of they want you to get...
