Wish I could rate 5 stars, and would, but I was a bit disappointed. I was told this dairy queen still had a lot of discontinued treats. Looking online, I saw they still had the classic Oreo brownie earthquake, a sundae style dish, topped with hot fudge, oreos, whipped cream, and finished off with triangles of brownie. I asked to be sure, and the person at the counter said they still had them so I ordered two. What I got however, was a blizzard with chunks of Oreo and brownie. No hot fudge, no whipped cream. No nostalgia. Had my treat of choice as a child been a dilly bar or dipped cone, I'm sure I would have rated 5 stars. I still wholeheartedly recommend this location. Just, if you ask for the Oreo brownie earthquake of your childhood, don't expect one. Just ask them to add Oreos to a triple chocolate brownie. It's not the same, but at least it's closer. EDIT: Went back for a dilly bar today! Some of the younger workers might not know what you are talking about, but I spoke with someone who has worked there longer and she told me they still make it, just with the...

Read about this restaurant in the New York Post and just had to drive over and try it out. Since my husband and I were driving through South Dakota when I read about the shop, we pulled out the road atlas and made a change of plans on our trip back to Ohio. Adding a day and 600 mile to our trip for ice cream sounds completely ridiculous, but believe it or not, it was completely worth the drive. The flavors and textures were just like I remember from my childhood and haven't been able to get in Ohio for a decade. My husband and I had blizzards in chocolate-dipped waffle cone, a cherry-dipped dilly bar, and two hot dogs. Everything that came out of the old-fashioned ice cream shop window was made with obvious care and exacting attention to detail. The prices were half or less than I would expect anywhere else. I even had a nice chat with the owner while we waited for our order to finish (through the window, of course). If you live in or are planning to travel through the Fargo, ND/Moorhead, MN area or any of the surrounding states, do yourself a favor and visit...

Staff are extremely disrespectful. The girls here will charge you more if they don't like you. We used to come here all the time because of the ice cream. It used to be a fun place to take the kids to enjoy a great treat but the disrespect shown from these young woman day after day shows a very large lack of professionalism considering it's one of the most famous dq's in the country. One girl tried to charge me 8$ for a side of crunch on my cone! 8$ are you kidding me. All 3 of my young children agree these employees are extremely disrespectful. The music they play from 8-10 is garbage and not family friendly. The owner is an awesome man and very polite but 85% of these young women are snobby and disrespectful. They never smile at you. They never say thank you or have a good day. They don't greet you. It's like they absolutely hate their job. My 9yr old and 8 year old both agree the ice cream is delicious...but the service is better at McDonald's. That...

This place is a gem - we visit many many times in the summer and it is always a great experience. First off, the ice cream is amazing - the best DQ treats you will find anywhere. Lots of options, they mix in lots of candies, etc. into the blizzards and are happy to make additions or subtractions when requested. The food is pretty good too, I always enjoy a classic Nathan’s hotdog, but the reason to visit is truly for the treats and nostalgic experience. The staff is also helpful and always willing to accommodate needs such as extra napkins, water, cups, etc. Lines can get long, but chatting with people in line and watching the trains go by is all a part of the experience. Definitely a must visit in Moorhead.

The legendary home of the “Dilly Bar! The Dilly bar was created here in 1955. This was one of the first Dairy Queen restaurants in the franchise and remains one of the oldest. The owners have always been an important part of the community. That legacy continues today through the philanthropic generosity of Troy and Diane DeLeon. Included in the photos I posted, are Troy and Diane being recognized by the Association of Fundraising Professionals Northern Plains Chapter as the “Philanthropists of the Year” at the 2022 National Philanthropy Day in Fargo.

If you would like to feel you stepped back in time stop by this retro Dairy Queen in Downtown Moorhead, Minnesota. With the ability to sell its own creations along with some of the current staples all Dairy Queens have this DQ makes for a stop worth driving more than a few miles for. Home of the original Dilly Bar and to my knowledge the only Dairy Queen that serves it in its original form and wrapper you won't be disappointed. Well, that is, unless you stop in November - February when it is closed because it is outdoors only.
