The restaurant and people were inviting and the smell that hits the nose when the front door opens makes it near impossible to resist the urge to step inside for more. The menu is by the front register, where you order. Also on the menu are scrolling pictures of some of the main items. The Super Empanada, carnitas, caught my eye. You can get it with your choice of meat. It was brought out to me and arrived fresh & fragrant. I was given the choice of mild or spicy salsa for topping. I chose spicy. It was the perfect heat, just enough to bring a bit of sweat but not enough to overpower or slow me down as I devoured this delectable dish. Each bite better than the last, as the distinct flavors of the fresh, homemade empanada absorbed the sauces, cheese and other ingredients. It's 9:45 am the next day as I share this review, and I find myself drooling slightly and ready for another right now! I didn't catch the name of the pleasant lady who took my order and delivered it to my table - a mistake I will correct when I return to Monarca- Taqueria. Because, we will...
Read moreI’ve been here before and got a steak taco (which my girlfriend went inside to get bc I was sick so I’ve never been inside until today)…it was delicious then I looked at the pics and saw they had Ramen. I’m from NJ so I’m in town today ONLY…I came in and I was looking at the menu but couldn’t find it. The guy at the register is standing there so I say to my girlfriend….babe I can’t find the Ramen..he goes’oh you want an order of Ramen ? ’ I said no actually I can’t find it on the menu..he says ‘oh it’s right here, you could’ve asked nicely’. First off I originally didn’t ask him for anything so he definitely could have spoken to me nicely. I say, how didn’t I ask nicely, all I said was I couldn’t find it in the menu! He says ok I’m not gonna go back and forth with you…it’s Saturday at 12:45pm, he is the only one there so I decided not to order. Sadly going back to Jersey without tasting the Ramen I’ve been dying to taste…truly saddens me when employees aren’t trained properly for customer service….I definitely won’t be back if he is...
Read moreQuiet little place down town. The atmosphere is casual. The staff was very friendly. The food was unfortunate. I had a chimichanga while my wife had a fish taco and the asada fries. My chimichanga was half tortilla as in they put a bit of meat in then rolled the rest of the burrito in a spiral to make it look bigger think about a 6 or 9 on its side and the closed part was all tortilla. The meat had no seasoning. The beans were just as ho hum. The rice actually did have good flavor to them. The fries were cheap bagged fries that couldn't stand alone and the toppings did nothing to improve them. The guacamole was ok. The Pico was overwhelming with red onion and had no citrus or cilantro to cut it. The queso may as well not been there. The fish taco was ok but the Chipotle sauce was the only redeeming quality. Over all this is a pass for...
