I am not certain if they have had their official grand opening yet but I was downtown for the Farmer's Market today and really happy to see Monkey Wrench Books was open. So I had to go in and take a look and get a cup of coffee.
I got an iced mocha to drink while I looked through the shelves. The mocha was up quick and was fairly priced. But best of all it tasted great.
There are quite a few shelves for books but not all are full. I heard the store owner state that they had opened on Tuesday and between then and Saturday they had sold about 50% of their stock. That is great and a good reason to have some of the shelves a bit emptier.
When you enter the store there is a shelf by the door with recommendations to read. I love when stores do this and I love the touch of the handwritten notes under some of the books explaining why they suggest you read them. Read moreBest people around and damn good coffee to boot! If you want to find community, look no further. This charming local bookstore is a hub for folks looking to support their neighbors, lift up those in need, and work towards a better world for everyone. If that sounds like a lot for a small bookstore to do, IT IS! Which is what makes this place and the people who run it so incredible. Go support the type of places you want to see in the world and add this shop to the top...
Read moreExtremely poor selection of books. I went here wanting to support a local shop but it's hard when they sell nothing worth buying. They said they could order whatever I wanted, but at that point I'm literally paying them a fee to do something I can easily do myself... I don't understand the service being provided there. The coffee was ok, not the best but not the worst either. I was really excited about this place but it ended up being a total let down. Very...
