Went to IHOP tonight to try and enjoy a sit-down meal with our family because it's one of the only decent so-called decent restaurants that you could sit down and eat later than 10:00 p.m. Walk inside takes us a minute to get seated and that's not a big deal. We get sat right in between like three different families of like 14 people all around us and there's a whole other side of the restaurant that we asked if we can sit on and it's not like it was closing time. They were still 4 hours left till they closed. The first thing you think of it IHOP is breakfast so that's what we wanted to order. My mom got some eggs, toast, bacon and sausage. Boyfriend got a burger and fries cuz he's got to be different and I got biscuit and gravy thinking well. I mean IHOP breakfast biscuit and gravies got to be good. Every single thing that I put in my mouth off of my tray and his tray and her tray was bland flavorless and hardly edible. The waiter was very sweet and nice and you could tell she's probably been overworked and underpaid so we tried to be nice towards her. She shared her experience with us and we tried to be sympathetic towards her and be nice. I sat there and could barely eat my meal so I tried to eat a couple pieces just to have something on my stomach. She comes back and my mother asked for some grape jelly probably about 1/4 of the time through our meal. We're all eating. Waiting for at least 25 more minutes and the jelly never arrives and then when she finally comes back she just brings the check we go to leave. Disappointed, of course. Go to the. Register to pay. And I don't know how most people feel, but I feel like your tip is based upon the food. The taste, the quality of your service and the atmosphere. Every single one of those things were bad. The food was disgusting. The service was not bad but when she didn't come back with the jelly and was kind of being pushy and disappearing like Houdini so fast, we just didn't think that it would be a good idea to leave a tip letting people think that they can get away with serving people Really bad food with not great service and still get tipped. It's not fair because in the restaurant business nothing matters except your customers and when they're unhappy they shouldn't tip you just cuz they feel bad. Or you have some type of life story that makes you seem like you need money in any situation. The tips you get should be earned by your quality, your care and your compassion. Never once where we asked if the food was good. Never once were we asked if we needed a refill except for me one time. And as we're leaving to pay the woman said well. Thanks a lot. That's my paycheck. Waitresses are getting bad in these day and ages because they think that just because they work there that they have to have a $20 or $30 tip every time they put food on somebody's table and that's just not right because that gives people initiative to be bad and have bad service. It's almost as if no matter what happens nice or mean that they deserve a tip and that's not how it should go. That's why bad restaurants get bad reviews and should get bad Business. We'll probably never be returning to this IHOP no matter what time of day and to the lady that served us. We're so sorry about your life story and the things you went through, but we're not there to feel sorry and be your friend and do all that. We're there to enjoy our family time and eat good food and we got none of the above. No, we don't feel bad about not leaving you a tip and I know you don't feel bad at all about the nasty food we got or the quality of your service. So let's just chalk the line there and leave...
Read moreMy granddaughter and I went to IHOP in Morristown because she was wanting their cinnamon pancakes and hash browns. I ordered the pot roast with mashed potatoes & broccoli & cheese. We sat for over 15 minutes waiting for someone to take our order & get drinks. Finally a server came over & was obviously mad about something. She said “sorry there was a mix up about tables”. So we ordered & she brought out drinks a few minutes later. When our order came out my granddaughters pancakes looks like someone had spilled the bottle of cinnamon on them, they were completely covered with cinnamon and she had a slice of cold cheese on top of her cold hash browns. Why, I don’t know. My whole meal was cold , even the plate. When I told the server she said she didn’t know why, that it just come up. She also asked me how I wanted the cheese on the broccoli, like a slice or what. This was after she gave me my food. I told her forget the cheese and to just microwave the food a little. The roast beef literally looked like someone had opened a packet of Caesar wet dog food and put it on my plate. It was total mush and tasted as bad as it looked. The potatoes were dry and the broccoli wasn’t good without cheese. She them brought my granddaughter another order of hash browns because the first order had a slice of cheese on top, which I’d say was probably supposed to go to another customer. Our server seemed absolutely miserable. We never got any drink refills and my granddaughter said she saw our server with her coat on and a drink in her hand leaving the restaurant. We asked another server for a to go box for my granddaughter and when she brought it back she smelled like a dirty ashtray.. I get people smoke but at least wash your hands or try to wait until it’s slow to go smoke. Needless to say we will not be going back there. I did not want to go to begin with because I knew this IHOP didn’t do much business and the food was not good the other time I went. Our meal was almost $40 for pancakes that my granddaughter only ate the center out of and cold hash brown. I couldn’t eat my food it was so bad. And almost $4 for 1 glass of tea...
Read moreI have trouble with the food being fixed wrong for several years. The help is usually mediocre at best, however we have gotten lucky a few times, so we "try" eating there from time to time. Last Sunday we went to enjoy the newly decorated srore, along with a new menu. We were seated in a timely manner, but that's where it went bad for us. We sat for fifteen minutes without even being noticed by the wait staff. There was plenty of help there, but they were too busy talking and playing. I was getting ready to ask the gentleman who seated us to move us to a different area. Before I could do that, one of the servers (Juan) literally threw dishes into a tub behind the seats, causing the contents to splash out all over my husbands right shoulder, leaving a puddle of coffee and some other drink remains on the seat. No one offered to get a towel, get a manager, or any corrective measure. He had to ask to see a manager two or three times. Well, the store manager wasn't there, so they sent out someone who said he was a manager, who mumbled something to him, but never offered to help clean the mess on him. They offered a card of the store manager, but what good was that? We left, never having been acknowledged by the wait staff, and my husband smelling like stale coffee. My husband filled out a comment card, being assured by the front staff of a phone call from the store manager. It still hasn't happened, and this will...
