I’ve never left a bad review. And the movie I saw was great, however, the experience left something to be desired. I arrived and bought a ticket and went to the assigned auditorium and another movie was playing. I was confused but walked back out. I was a few minutes early but had expected so close to the showing for it to be over. So I went out and found someone to ask and was informed they had a power outage and they expected the movie to end late and for me to be able to enter about 5 minutes after it was scheduled to start. Ok, that’s great. I understand things happen although I was confused why the ticket counter hadn’t notified me of possible delays. So at 7:05 I go into the theatre for my 7:00 showing after standing in the hall for a WHILE and the credits are playing for the movie that was ending. They end at 7:10 and I figure it’ll take about 10 minutes and my movie will begin. By 7:30 I was getting confused but by 7:40 I was mad. I went to the lobby and voiced concern. I was polite but let it be known that I was frustrated as there was no reason for it to be so long after the scheduled showing and it hasn’t even begun. They simply just hadn’t started the movie, it had been forgotten about... So they start the movie and I watch it and I’m enjoying it. Somewhere about halfway or 2/3 through the movie part of the screen turns a yellow tint. I’m annoyed by that point and hoping it goes away. The remainder of the movie which was a minimum of an hour but likely more the ENTIRE left side of the screen is yellow. It was driving me absolutely insane. But I didn’t want to get up and miss part of my movie which I paid for an by that point was invested in and I didn’t want to cause further delay after the 40 minute delay if they had to stop the movie to fix it. So I had no good options left and was getting rather frustrated. I’m a calm person though and I don’t like to complain because I understand things happen. The movie ended and I wanted to watch the credit scene because I knew there would be more but I was so upset I just left without it. I couldn’t take the yellow anymore. I went to the lobby and the manager who had been called to fix my movie was in the lobby so I approached him. I told him that for half my movie the screen was yellow on the left side and he said ok, and went back to looking at candy (he was shopping for himself). By that point I was livid. I would’ve been ok with him just saying I’m sorry you experienced that I’ll look at that so it doesn’t happen again but I had such a bad experience and had to complain more than once so it would’ve been normal to receive a refund and/or a coupon or item as compensation for their issues. Instead I was ignored. By that point I couldn’t deal with the people anymore and I left rather upset. As I left I heard the salesperson asking about “it happening again” and him saying he’d have to check out the auditorium because he didn’t know why it turned yellow. So clearly I’m not the first person they’ve had watch a half yellow movie and they still allowed it to happen and took a customers money for it. I’ve never left a bad review but I’ve also never felt so un-appreciated as a customer for any business. I don’t care how much I spend I should still have a good experience and if I do I return. Instead I was forgotten, given worst priority, poor quality, and lastly poor service. The really winners at the location were the 2 very polite gentleman waiting in the hall to clean the theatre after the show ended while I waited to go in. There was also a nice guy behind the counter. Everyone else needs to re-evaluate working in a job where customer service...
Read moreWe bought early access tickets to How to Train Your Dragon, which was supposed to include a poster. We also called a few days before to see if there would be merch available as well, and we were told there would be the popcorn tin, the cup, and the plushie. Keep in mind, we had a HTTYD-obsessed kid with us who has waited years for this movie. When we arrived to the theater, we were told there was no merch, which was met with a very upset kid. And no poster. So we ended up buying the popcorn/drink combos instead. We got to our seats, and someone else in our party mentioned to a theater worker about the disappointment of the kid with us and they asked to speak to her mom. While she was out there talking, a worker came in and announced to the theater that there was a mistake and that they would be selling a limited amount of the merch. So of course we had to go get 2 for the kids with us, but that was essentially buying 2 more popcorn/drink combos, so we now had 6 buckets of popcorn and 6 drinks for 4 people all because of their mistake, and yall know movie theater food isn't cheap. And still no posters, which were supposed to come with our tickets. I have a screenshot from the AMC website saying you get a free gift for purchasing early access tickets and we got nothing. This was supposed to be a really special night for our HTTYD fan, but I really wish we would have picked a different theater for the experience. I expected a little more for the amount of...
Read moreThe theater seemed clean and my limited interaction with the employees was pleasant. That's the good part. It's unfortunate that everything shuts down within 20 minutes of the actual showtime for the last movie of the night. Everyone knows you're going to sit through at least 10-15 minutes of previews before the movie starts so having so little time to decide on concessions is not ideal, especially if you're someone, like me, who was running behind to meet my family. I literally had to have the door unlocked in order for me to be allowed into the theater. I'm not local to Morristown, so this is unlike any movie theater I routinely visit. The norm, in my experience, is for movie goers to have at least 45 minutes into the actual movie before they are no longer able to make a purchase and I've never heard of the doors being locked before the first half of the movie is over. Perhaps there are factors I'm not aware of that necessitate this practice, but I was certainly unhappy with that aspect of the visit. I don't look forward to going back...
