Malay in Morristown, NJ is a delightful restaurant that serves authentic Malaysian cuisine. From the moment you step inside, you'll be greeted by friendly staff and a warm atmosphere. The decor is simple yet elegant, with beautiful wooden furniture and traditional artwork adorning the walls. The menu at Malay is extensive and offers a range of delicious dishes, including appetizers, entrees, and desserts. Some of the standout dishes include the Beef Rendang, a rich and flavorful curry made with slow-cooked beef in a blend of spices, and the Char Kway Teow, a stir-fried noodle dish with shrimp, egg, and bean sprouts. One of the unique features of Malay is the rotating specials menu, which features seasonal dishes and new creations from the chef. This adds an element of excitement to each visit and keeps the menu fresh and interesting. The portions at Malay are generous, and the prices are reasonable for the quality of food and service. The restaurant also offers a variety of vegetarian and gluten-free options, making it a great choice for diners with dietary restrictions. Overall, Malay in Morristown, NJ is a must-visit for anyone who loves Malaysian cuisine or is looking to try something new. The combination of delicious food, warm hospitality, and inviting atmosphere makes for an unforgettable dining experience.

The place has a really good ambience. The staff is extremely polite and courteous and service is quick. We waited for probably 15 minutes before being served. The pineapple chicken fried rice that we ordered was really good, with all the flavors hitting the right spot. Although this one is a hit or a miss depending upon how you feel about pineapple in your food. I love it. Not on pizza though, ;). The Indian chilly chicken we ordered didn't live up to the expectation and that may have been because we chose to make it 0 spicy. Would definitely visit again to try the other offerings. Especially to try the desserts.

I am not sure if person who cooks these dishes were not available or not but food I got was terrible. Panda Express would have tasted much better and also looked better for fraction of price. I got black pepper chicken that was not peppery at all but swimming in watery brown sauce, and Indian chili chicken where ‘chili’ is completely absent from the dish. Tried to reach out for replacement but nobody picked up phone. Eventually we left town for home wondering what to do with these food…very disappointed for restaurant we were enjoying in a decades went down hill for the quality of food like this.

This review is for the poor service we received. My boyfriend and I came here for dinner at 5-6pm on a Friday night. They had open tables when we arrived, but were packed by the time we left. When we first arrived, we were given water and wine glasses almost immediately, which was great, but they didn't offer to open our wine or give us an ice bucket. When a woman finally came up to take our order, she didn't give us her name or state that she was our waitress -- it all felt very impersonal. It then took a whopping 50-60 min to get our main meal (pad thai and soup) and when we did, the pad thai was served 5-10 minutes before my boyfriend's soup. No one explained why our meals came out separately (odd for a table of 2) or apologized for it. Throughout dinner, we were never checked in on and yet again, had to wave someone down for a box and the check. There are much better places to eat in Morristown with quality service. Don't...

Restaurant has changed ownership and unfortunately has gone downhill. Both service and food were awful. My husband and I went for dinner and although no one was dining in the restaurant but us, we were left waiting at the table for quite some time before anyone would even come over to us. When the server passed our table I told her we were ready to order and she just kept walking and ignored me. At another point, she was also on her phone with it on speakerphone talking loudly and it also sounded like a baby monitor was going off. The people in the kitchen sounded like they were fighting. Needless to say, it wasn't a relaxing atmosphere. We ordered the coconut shrimp as an appetizer and while we were still eating, she started taking away the plates and the sauce. The shrimp was ok, but we felt very rushed. We then had a chicken curry, which was extremely over cooked, tasting almost powdery. It's a shame this restaurant used...
