Super authentic, family-owned cute little local spot that is definitely worth a visit!
We had such a great late lunch here! The staff were super friendly and knowledgeable.
A no-frills little local spot that truly focuses on the food and the flavor. You can dine in or take out. They have a few tables inside, so we decided to dine in.
We got the Chay Báhn Mi sandwich (no cilantro, but added avocado). OMG, 10/10 for sure!! The pan-fried lemongrass tofu was amazing!! The flavors were incredibly complex and complimented by all the other fresh ingredients. The spice level was just right, the bread was crisp yet soft, the pickled veggies were vibrant and delicious, the fresh jalapeños gave us the perfect amount of heat, and the lemongrass seasoning on the sandwich was sooooo good!!!
The shrimp summer rolls were delicious and light. Perfect for a summer afternoon! The shrimp was super fresh, the lettuce, mint and basil were so crisp, refreshing and fragrant. The rice and noodles were perfectly cooked and all the ingredients worked so beautifully wrapped together in the delicate rice paper with the peanut dipping sauce.
We also ended up trying the Che Ba Mau dessert which is a three color layered dessert with coconut cream, shaved ice, pandan jelly, red bean, and mung bean, topped with crushed peanuts. It was so delicious and refreshing. Not too sweet, super great flavors and textures. We loved it! Reminded us of the Filipino Halo Halo dessert. It was awesome!!
It was evident that they only use high quality ingredients and really know how to balance flavors, which to me, is super important.
Can’t wait to try all the other dishes, we’ll definitely be back! We highly recommend...
Read moreI've been working in this area for 15 years and I, somehow, didn't know this place existed. I was looking for somewhere to have lunch that had vegan options. Saigon Subs came across my search, so I went to their site. Sure enough there were a few things available and non-dairy bubble teas. I ordered a Taro bubble tea and a side of Summer Rolls as my first taste of this place. I ordered online and it was easy. I walk in and it's clean, organized, and feels comfortable. The young girl at the front desk greeted me with a big smile. I gave her my name, and she told me it was going to be 1 minute. They were just finishing up. I got my food and I headed to my car. When I opened the box, I saw that the portion I got was a lot bigger than I originally thought it would be. The summer rolls looked amazing. I took a bite. Ladies, gentlemen, non-binary folk, and all humans under the sun; you do not know what the word "fresh" actually tastes like until you experience what is in this roll. It was beyond incredible. It's also extremely filling. I got the spicy mayo dip and it complemented it really well. The flavors of the tofu and greens mixed with a hint of fresh mint gives it this other-worldly experience. If they do something so small as a side dish this well, I can only imagine what the rest of their menu tastes like. I won't be imagining for long, because I can't wait to order again. ...
Read moreI've had this place bookmarked for a while but never got to try it out because it's so far away from us. Until one evening, when we were watching a movie at a theater kind of close to this area. It was only about a ten minute detour from the theater, so we took the opportunity to finally try it out (as opposed to the almost hour drive from Hoboken).
We ordered two of the Saigon Special (Vietnamese pork roll & ham, barbecue pork patty, pâté). It might be one of the best banh mis I’ve ever had in my life. It’s packed with ingredients and is definitely for meat lovers. I don’t think I’ve ever had a banh mi with so many different types of meat - it’s usually just ham and pork and you usually have to pay extra to add pâté, but not at Saigon Subs. We didn’t end up finishing both and had it for lunch the next day, and it was still good. I would definitely get one per person, even though a whole one is a little too much - but half will definitely leave you wanting more. I was tempted to try the pork meatball one but since we were eating in the car, I figured it would be too messy. Hope we get to come back soon and try that one or maybe some of their rice dishes, but the Saigon...
