Food good. Service is terrible. Got seated outside by an unfriendly gal who seemed more annoyed than she was pleasant. Waited 15 minutes after being seated before a waitress came to my table. No water. No coffee. No menu. The restaurant was not particularly busy, I went for breakfast at around 10 a.m. on a Wednesday. The food is good, but the women who work there seem miserably unhappy and seldom smile, never say thank you (which should be natural considering we customers are patronizing Carla's Country Kitchen and there are DOZENS of other eating establishments within a 1 square mile radius of Carla's...any one of which would be glad to have some of the business, and probably treat the customers better). I am a local and have eaten countless times at Carla's Country Kitchen over the years, because, like I've mentioned already, the food IS good. But my experience going there has always been lacking in pleasantries. The lady who owns it usually is rude, seldom if ever says hello, or welcome. Her attitude is not very positive, and she's a bit snarky. She seldom says thank you when the bill is being paid (at the front counter when she's working the cash register) and you are leaving. Unfortunately, her attitude carrys over onto her staff. Of which the MAJORITY of her waitresses seldom, if ever, greet customers warmly. It's not just my experience, it's the same thing with other people I know who've been treated coldly and with little regard. I hsve watched and observed the behavior of the owner and her staff, NUMEROUS times which confirms for me that they are just rude and unprofessional toward customers in general. I eat there occasionally because the food IS good, and I live close by, but my experience there, time and time again, just confirms that the problem Carla's Country Kitchen has is NOT THE CUSTOMERS, but instead, starts at the top, with the owner, and flows downward to the staff. It would be nice if the experience of dining at Carla's was not overshadowed by a prickly staff and a unhappy, rude owner. One other experience I would like to share, in the not too distant past, I stopped into Carla's Country Kitchen for breakfast, and was coldly and unpleasantly asked (not greeted) if I wanted a menu or if I already knew what I wanted. She (the waitress) didn't say hello, didn't say good morning, nothing. Just walked up and abruptly asked if I wanted a menu. I thought that showed poor customer interaction. Then, after finishing my meal, when it came time to pay, she didn't even bother to come ask me how everything was, or if I wanted anything else (before she closed out my tab). Instead, a few minutes later, while carrying a pot of coffee to refill another customers cup, as she walked by my table, without saying anything, she just dropped my check off...and kept on walking. Said nothing. No thanks. No come back soon. No have a nice day. She exemplifies the kind of rude attitude that I have experienced at Carla's Country Kitchen, time and time again, towards me, and towards other customers as well. Hopefully this review makes it's way to the owner and her employees, maybe it might result in some change in their behavior and they might realize the impact customer service (or lack thereof) and attitude has on the experience that patrons have while there. They really should try to be nice. Be pleasant. Be respectful of people. Show appreciation. Say thank you. It's NOT that...
Read moreIf you had asked me 2 months ago I would've said that Carla's was pretty good! I used to go here fairly often before work cause they had great Belgian waffles and my servers were always amused but generous by my requests for ridiculous amounts of whipped cream!
Unfortunately I went again this week with my parents and my sister before work and I got the complete opposite experience.
The little grid squares in my waffle were the only parts that was actually cooked and the rest was doughy and under baked. My mom got corned beef hash with basted eggs but the eggs had a ton of crackle on the edges and the bottom which she has a hard time eating.
Our server offered to have them remade and we said sure! It then took 30 minutes of barely seeing our server and other servers and employees refusing to help with anything but refills saying "I'll tell your server" or "wait for your server"
When we asked to have the undercooked waffle and the corned beef hash removed as we had to leave and STILL did not receive the remade eggs we were told they charged us for the hash but removed the eggs because my mom decided to just eat after waiting half an hour for eggs that should take 3 minutes. I got charged the berries and cream for my waffle as well despite it being the only part of the waffle that was edible.
Super disappointed and bummed out by the whole thing. The manager and the woman running the register acted as if it was just ridiculous but made little to no attempt to actually rectify it despite my party spending $80 to be ignored and our food not up to par or just not returned at all. Don't know what happened but won't be recommending it or...
Read moreGreat service! Second visit and was even better this time. Arrived about an hour before closing. Got a table right away despite it being a busy holiday. Really could not choose so my server offered many helpful suggestions. Decided on a western omelette, country potatoes, and biscuit. This is a real omelette, my friends. Generous amount of sauteed ingredients folded inside the egg mixture. Not a pile of stuffed dumped on top of some scrambled eggs as SO many other places call an omelette. Country potatoes were OK. Looked like pan fried slices of unpeeled russets. Could have benefitted from the addition of onions and bell peppers. Didn't see the hash browns served to anyone so I can't compare. Biscuit was not THE one I'm searching for. Not awful, not great. Didn't crumble apart when I added butter. Bland taste and texture. Sadly, so many restaurants consider a biscuit as merely a vessel for gravy. Blasphemy! A good biscuit is a delicious work of art. Flavor, texture, temperature all have to be just right to achieve biscuit perfection. If you've ever had a good homemade buttermilk biscuit hot out of the oven, you know what I mean. Nothing else is good enough. Anyway, service was great as I said. Server (whose name I failed to get) was patient, informative, helpful. I feel like I got more than my money's worth. Spent under $12 for a good meal and great service. My only complaint is they close at 2pm! Really wish they would stay open later, especially...
