My experience was terrible. On our 2nd anniversary my wife and I recieved rude and discriminatory service from a Caucasian female with light brown or blonde hair who was 6 feet tall. Aside from it being a day that my wife and I will NEVER forget, the waitress had no background knowledge on the wines she was pouring or she simply wasnt interested in provided good service to US; two black working professionals celebrating their 2nd anniversary in Morro Bay. We went to this place on a reccomendation from our limo driver. We get there and do a wine tasting which allows one to taste 5 wines for $10.00. We begin tasting, and I was certain that we had only tasted 3 wines. Nevertheless, the lady insisted that we were on our final taste. I calmly stated my position of indifference thinking that this was just a simply mix up; id seen the woman being very friendly and providing service to the two white patrons so I figured; I'm the customer and surely she just wants us to stay, enjoy the environment, and spend more money at her establishment....that wasnt the case. Immediately, the lady accused me of being belligerent. She then looks at my wife and asks her to "help her deal with me." My wife is then confused because both of us were calm. However, my wife then caught on to why I was dissatisfied because the context changed in the waitresses energy. We noticed her demeanor change to one of being a victim suddenly. Considering, the way that things play out nowadays when white folks cry wolf in social media on black and brown people My wife and i decided to leave rather than make her famous on social media. I almost forgot to mention that she was practically yelling at us the entire time. The lady then says; well this whole thing can be free since you have a problem with the service...as if to imply that I provoked the situation or that my true intent was to somehow inadvertently avoid the bankruptcy I would possibly face if I paid this woman 10 bucks for these drinks.
This is NOT the place to visit if you are black or brown. Definentaly dont visit if you want professional service. The customer is NOT always right here. You will not be treated with respect unless...
Read moreWe visited STAX Wine Bar for the first time last weekend to see a friend play live music. We were surprised how delicious the food was, and the prices were very reasonable. But first, I must mention, since it It is a wine bar after all, that we enjoyed the wine flight of local wine. It was only $10 for 5 tastes, and we took advantage of the Yelp check-in special: 2 for 1 tasting with the purchase of food. Each person in your party can have a free tasting as long as at least 1 food item per person is purchased (not a difficult thing to do since you will want to try at least several of their food selections). We enjoyed everything we ordered: ultra fresh "Grassy Bar" oysters right out of Morro Bay, "The Ultimate" crostini (black truffle seasoned filet mignon, grilled Portobello mushroom, St. Agur Bleu cheese, arugula, homemade basil pistou atop a crunchy crostini), and mushroom toast. Check out the rest of the menu details online and your mouth will begin watering; you will not be disappointed by the real thing! As far as the music is concerned the place has a very convivial atmosphere, but it is a bit noisy plus the acoustics aren't the best for music. The live music is great for adding to the ambiance of the scene, but definitely don't go for a serious music experience. DO, however, go for a relaxed, friendly environment, great food & wine, and in the daytime I believe there is a view...yes, the stacks, but that is Morro Bay. I'm glad we finally visited STAX. Don't be fooled by its location on the Embarcadero that it's an overpriced tourist trap, because that it is not. It's a great place for tourists and...
Read moreHands down the best food in Morro Bay. Okay, okay, hear me out! Wine Bar right, think again. These guys take elegance and food to a whole new level of experience and expectation. Not your average charcuterie and wine pairing type of place. Looking for deep fried garbage they offer at every restaurant in Morro Bay, this is not your place. Amazing food, staff, atmosphere with a little bit of something for everyone. Skeptical at first we tried their Chilli Cheese dog and paired that with their Baloney sandwich. Why stop there, right? We then decided on the Ultimate Crustini’s and two bottles of Emmolo Merlot.
Atmosphere!! We chose outside and boy were we glad. The characters you see in this small town not to mention (Location, Location)!! Seeing people navigate the 4 way stop and the Hill in front of their establishment was the ultimate added bonus. They have fire pillars for the cold weather and the front is in a protected area with umbrellas for added protection from the sun.
Staff! Everyone who works there loves their job and you can tell by the service they give and the smiles on everyone’s face. They genuinely care about their customers and their dinning experience within their establishment.
If you’re looking for something more elevated, we came back to dinner that evening and hand picked our own Fillet Mignon and Ahi Tuna. The portions were big enough for two or three people and again we were extremely satisfied with the food, the service, the atmosphere and our whole dining experience.
Don’t think about it, just go and I promise you will leave full, happy and if need be, slightly...
