When I arrived to Moses Lake for business, I asked my hotel staff for a good ramen place. They said this place had just recently opened, so I decided to try it. When I first walked in, I knew I was in for a bad time. The first thing I noticed was not a single Japanese person, or Asian even, was working here. As far as the eye can see, nothing but white hipsters, complete with pin-cushion faces, whose likely only experience with Japanese culture is through English-dubbed anime. They even had Japanese bubblegum pop music playing overhead! Still, I persisted and chose something simple, something they couldn't possibly mess up: shōyu ramen. How was it? Disappointing. I never knew ramen could taste greasy, so I guess thank you for teaching me something new? While edible and was not terrible, it was definitely not authentic. It tasted like a bowl of Americanized Chinese take-out in ramen form. This is most certainly catered to American tastes.
But alas, I was not finished. They also serve poke bowls. I browsed the menu, looking at all the ingredients, and lost it when I saw one of the bowls had jalapeños in it! Really?? Who designed this?? I did a simple rainbow bowl, untainted by the pungent pepper, and it was quite good. I enjoyed the poke a lot more than the ramen.
If you are looking for a good poke bowl, this place will suffice. Just bring a lot of money, because it is pretty expensive. However, if you are looking for some good authentic ramen, try somewhere else... unless you are the type that actually likes Americanize Chinese food. Three stars because while the food was good, it does not...
Read moreWe just left after having a terrible experience. We just went in after finding this place online. We tried asking for a menu to see if there were any descriptions of different items since it’s more specialized ingredients and we didn’t know what same were. They have nothing to explain their items. That’s fine if they want to have ordering take a considerably longer time to order as they have to ask many questions, more just an annoyance. But then several items are makes VG but with no key to explain what they stand for. I went up and asked the lady at the register and said she didn’t know. I then asked if it stand for vegan and gluten free? She said yeah I think so!!!! She then stood there and made no attempt to make sure she was correct. I am gluten free and can’t risk getting ill just because “she thinks so”. I then asked could you please ask someone it’s kind of important to know. She was extremely confused and said she’d try finding someone to ask. She walked away. When she came back she said no that’s not what they mean. I asked again them what do they stand for? She said I don’t know! And then stood there smiling.
You’re the one taking the orders and can’t answer questions or understand why you should find someone that does? Isn’t that part of customer service is being able to answer what I’d think is a simple question. This was just plain terrible customer service. We left incredibly...
Read moreI've been coming here somewhat often, and I've never once left disappointed with the food or the service. It's clear the owners care a lot about their establishment, as it's always incredibly clean, and the service is always extremely polite and welcoming.
Just tonight, I came in knowing somewhat what I wanted but not exactly, and the man took the time to walk me through the choices and help me pick out what I wanted to add.
I ended up choosing the torched salmon bowl, and with his help added some avocado. The other employee that ended up making my bowl was also very polite and friendly as he handed it to me, and it's service like that that keeps me coming back to a place.
Can't recommend it enough, especially if you're craving something healthy or just Asian cuisine in general. The food is always perfectly fresh, well-prepared, and incredibly tasty. Their ramen is also probably some of the best available in Moses Lake, in my opinion. It rivals many of the ramen establishments out on...
