I’ve ate at this business over 20 years with awesome service, but on July 5, 2021 about 730 PM all of this changed. After a good day at work, I opted to get good food and good service in a great place. The business was a little busy but that’s fine. Being regulars we placed our food order with the drink orders. It was about 5-8 minutes after being seated we got chips and an additional 8-10 minutes before we got our drinks. Not sure what the deal was, but after 2 tables beside us had their food and we didn’t and we had gotten seated before them; and almost an hour inside waiting on drink refills my family had to depart, for the kids bedtime and no food insight. After maybe 10-15 minutes of waiting at the table by myself I went to the front counter feeling very “ticked off”. I asked if they could make it to go so I could at least drop it off at my daughters and moms as I went home. Lady said it was almost done and they were boxing it. She was apologetic and offered free cheese or sauce and I said I just wanted what I ordered over an hour before. 7 minutes after I paid for my food I had it and left feeling very VERY displeased with the service. I met up with my daughter and my mom to get them their food, only to find out that 1.5 of the 5 orders was correct. Now I was trying to reflect the entire evening some real time resilience but this was the straw so I called the restaurant where the shift lead lady advised she couldn’t fix it now, because the owner/manager Mr Benny wasn’t in town, but she took my order information off the receipt. She also told me I could call back to fix it. I travel due to my work but a few minutes ago (today July 16, 2021 about 8PM I called to discuss the situation. I spoke with the owner/manager Mr. Benny who was apologetic and offered to fix my order if I called it in now. I explained it was wrong, I was completely missing one meal, and 1/2 of another and 2 were wrong. He again was apologetic, and I told him I’d like it fixed, but I’m not eating there again. I don’t mind paying for what I order. I don’t want to pay for what I didn’t order. This was the worst food encounter I have had and can recall in over 40 years. I WAS a customer who ate there 2-3 times a week and I will never go in again. On a score of 1-10 I wouldn’t even make it to a one with this visit or service.

Tlaquepaque Mexican Grill is a gem for anyone craving authentic Mexican cuisine. The standout dish, mango shrimp tacos, offers a delightful balance of sweet and savory flavors that left a lasting impression. The accompanying rice and beans were flavorful and cooked to perfection, complementing the meal beautifully. The atmosphere at Tlaquepaque is warm and inviting, creating a perfect setting for a relaxed dining experience. The decor and ambiance reflect true Mexican heritage, enhancing the authenticity of the meal. What truly sets Tlaquepaque apart is the friendly and attentive staff, who go above and beyond to ensure every guest feels welcomed and well taken care of. If you’re in the mood for genuine Mexican flavors and a fantastic dining experience, Tlaquepaque Mexican Grill is the place to be.

Service was great and they have a large menu of items and the drinks were good. We got the beef enchiladas and the grilled chicken enchiladas. The beef plate lacked flavor and the chicken plate had flavor thanks to the green sauce but the enchiladas were just grilled chicken wrapped in a tortilla topped with lots of green sauce and lettus. There wasnt much cheese and nothing to hold it together. Like I said they had a large menu so maybe we just picked the two meals that had issues. The wait staff was really great!

Y'all rating it a 5? Have you never tasted good Mexican? It's a hole in the wall place (you know, in a plaza, no fan fare) which are usually the BEST Mexican restaurants... nope! Not today This was one of the worst I've had. I start rating Mexican places from salsa, if you don't win on taste there, it's going to be bad. This opinion has never failed me, and again didn't tonight. The salsa tastes sorta like tomato paste, but somehow is too watery... it's just bland and boring. I ordered a combo dinner with an enchilada and quesadilla. Steak enchilada may have been better with a better sauce. Again, the tomato sauce, yuck! The red sauce on the enchilada tasted worse then the salsa, it was like a tomato paste out of a can. Onto the quesadilla, shouldn't be able to mess that up. Except, it was seemingly undercooked? Usually a quesadilla has a bit of a crunch in the tortilla but this was a soggy, floppy, gross nightmare. The shredded chicken on the quesadilla was VERY bland and dull and there was not enough cheese at all. Rice on the plate was meh, just ok. I never touch refried beans, so couldn't comment. Overall, the waitress was kind and checked in enough. The price was ok overall (one person, beer and dinner, about $18 plus tip). Btw: was in the bathroom when I arrived home. I'd say that's worse then Taco Bell jokes you read all day. Cut down the grease! Change your flavor and...

Been eating here for years but will not return. Our waitress today at lunch was clueless. She was still in training. Didn’t know anything about the menu. My husband pointed to the lunch fajitas. When we got the bill we were charged for the dinner size because she rang it in wrong. Manager would not change it because he said my husband ate the dinner portion so he would have to pay for it. The manager sent his new employee in training to let us know. Didn’t even have the courtesy to come tell us we had to pay for something we didn’t order. She also tried to charge us for an extra salad because my dish came with salad or rice and I said I wanted the salad. I also ordered ground beef but got shredded beef. My husbands salsa bowl stayed empty half the time. With all this the manager still decided that an extra $5 was worth losing a long term...
