Denny's — Restaurant in Mount Vernon

I ordered over-medium eggs and they came out hard, and no salt & pepper used during the cooking. The bacon was cold and crisp having texture of a thin cracker that would break if any bending was attempted. The toast was Hard and Dry. My girl ordered an omelette. It came out dry and with very skimpy ingredients and all the cheese piled on one side. Hash-browns were okay texture but tasteless. When we both sent them back my girlfriend said her omelette was near absent of three ingredients and the waitress acted like sending it back was "particular" and when she returned she said "I don't eat cheese on my eggs" and I informed about my eggs being over hard. She asked why i didn't like them and i said they were hard and yolks don't run. She told me oh but you wanted them over medium right. Do you want them over-easy? I said no I want over-medium and explained that over-easy eggs have slightly runny whites, and that I wanted mine fully done but with a runny yolk....over-medium. so when she came back she only had toast and it was hard like a crouton and lacking butter. When the omelette came back it was the same one with a slice of velveeta cheese added but unmelted. By this time the entire meal was cold as well. The waitress commented that they (Denny's) wasn't a good choice for breakfast. 🍳 🪺🥚🥓🍟🤯🤦‍♂️😳😭🤬. The place sucks, 35$ for cold hard eggs with no salt and pepper or any other flavorful aspect. Imagine Denny's is not a breakfast restaurant 😂. Is it a dinner date location? ...hey babe, we're going out for steak and lobster on me. where we going?...

This is somewhat sad and difficult review, due to the fact I worked in the corporate offices during the long period Verne Winchell was President & CEO (also part owner) and before the Denny's chain was sold to its current southern based owners (Trans World Corporation, doesn't sound like a restaurant company???).

Denny's was always my first choice when wanting food that was good and priced reasonably was what you got for a serving.

But no more! Now I go to IHOP or one of the local based restaurants.

This particular Denny's was seriously damaged by a fire several years ago, seemed that they were closed for nearly/over a year.

When they did reopen, I visited it several times and each visit was a disappointment.

When what I ordered was served, it barely reflected it's description on the menu. Neither the taste or quality came close to what I remembered from before the fire!

When concern was expressed to management, their response did litte to resolve those concerns.

I have heard several similar accounts/complaints from other locals who have gone back after the fire.

I even tried to find an section on the Denny's website to express my dissatisfaction, and no luck!

As noted, I worked for the old Denny's corporation, one thing I did was product analysis, we took great pride that we were helping to develop the best possible menu items for our customers at that time. It looks like the new owners are dropping the ball.

This Denny's completely IGNORED MY FOOD ALLERGIES- which are life-threatening (my stomach bleeds if I eat the wrong foods). I am extremely disheartened and will NEVER go back to this Dennys.

I specifically ordered my food to accommodate my food allergies. I am allergic to Wheat, Dairy, Tomatoes, and Shellfish. The waitress obviously ignored my requests because she brought me coffee and cream, I told her I am allergic to the cream before and after she brought it. Then when she brought me my omelette, there was cheese on it and bread on top of it! I had ordered the make your own omelette and cheese wasn't even one of the ingredients I had ordered to have on it. The bread sitting on top of it, I had asked her not to put on or near my food because wheat (and shellfish) is the one I have the WORST reaction to!

When I called the waitress back to explain to her that I could NOT eat the food she had brought me, because of my FOOD ALLERGIES, she rolled her eyes and stomped off!!! I didn't end up getting a new omelette made and to me until my grandma, cousin, and her boyfriend were almost finished eating. Denny's also messed up on my cousin's boyfriend's order.
