The food was okay. Nothing special, but not bad. The service on the other hand sucked! When we got there there was only two other cars in the parking lot. Our party consisted of four adults and two children. We waited for what seemed like hours until one of the waitresses came to the front. She asked how many were in our party and I told her. She looked around inside the restaurant and said give me a few minutes I need to find a table for you. Really? You have to find a table? The restaurant is empty. But what could I do, so we waited. We had been waiting for 12 minutes when I stood up to see what was going on. That same waitress was walking around inside the restaurant not doing anything. She looked right at me and proceeded into the kitchen. We waited another 4 minutes until we saw her coming out of the kitchen with food for other customers. I'm not mad that others were being served, they were there before us, and that's what they came to do... Eat! By the same token, that's what we went there to do. After she served that table she went back to the kitchen. I walked into the restaurant area to see what was going on if a table had been prepared for my family and I. Again the restaurant was empty only two other tables and they were all eating. A different waitress happened to come out of the kitchen and she asked me if we had been helped yet. By this time it was more than 20 minutes since the other gal first said she was going to put a table together for us. I explained that to the second girl who then turned around and went back to the kitchen. They both came out together walked into the restaurant area then came back to the front grabbed some menus and showed us to a table. The two tables had not been pushed together, we did that ourselves. So what in the blue blazes was she doing? We should have left and gone elsewhere but I had promised my grandson a specialty pancake and it was not his fault that the staff was incompetent! Because I know that you never mess with your server, I kept my cool. Honestly this is not the first time that the service at IHOP has been less than desirable. I will think about my decision before I go to the Mount Vernon IHOP again. Good luck to you I hope you don't have the same service my family and I were subjected to. Oh and the service at the table was not up to par either. We had to ask for refills on coffee, iced tea, and juice for the kids. Isn't that their job, to...
Read moreThe place we usually go to for breakfast in Mt. Vernon was closed last Saturday, and we were under a bit of time pressure, so we thought IHOP would be a good option to get some take out breakfast. We haven't eaten at IHOP in a long time but had been to this location before, so were not ready for what awaited us.
The staff was friendly but not the fastest. It took a long time for our breakfast to be ready. We asked for creamer with the coffee, and instead of just giving us the two creamers we asked for, they went into the back and returned several minutes later with the creamers wrapped into a brown paper bag. Not necessary and a waste of a paper bag, but I am sure they meant well.
We went back to our hotel across the street, and the food was abysmal. I had the breakfast biscuit sandwich, and it tasted liked nothing. The biscuit was dry, the bacon had no taste at all, it was like chewing warm cardboard. The hash browns were burnt on the outside and almost raw on the inside.
My husband had two eggs that were edible and several fairly disgusting sausage links and pancakes that were so dry that he couldn't eat them. There was a ton of ketchup in the take out bag but no syrup. Same problem with the hash browns, black on the outside, almost raw on the inside.
We hate wasting food but had no choice but to throw out half of our order, it was the worst breakfast ever and pretty much inedible. I am not sure what happened to IHOP, it used to be a decent place but we will definitely not come...
Read moreI've been to this Ihop twice, and I didn't like it both times. The first time they oversalted the fries. This time the unfriendly hostess not only didn't say hello, but immediately turned away from us and started looking for a seat; she sat us at a table with trash scattered around it and only cleaned it up after I complained; the chicken strips are not golden brown as on the menu, but fried until really brown (and yes, guys, cutting chicken strips on a concave plate with fries on it is very inconvenient); part of my order was served to me after dessert, when the main meal was over (they didn't include it in the bill as a compliment). What can I say, guys, you have a lot to strive for, and we will look for a friendlier place. It's a pity I didn't read the reviews beforehand. We've never had such troubles in our city.
ADD. The company responded to my comment by offering to fill out a complaint. The complaint was filled out, and I was promised that a manager would contact me within 4 days. When on the fourth day I responded that they had not contacted me, on the fifth day I received a letter from the someone of them: "We have tried to reach out to you by calling the phone number provided to Customer Relations regarding your visit to IHOP restaurant." I wonder how they tried if I only left an email, not a phone number. I wrote to him about this, still no...
