The one star is not about the food but about their call service and no respect for customers. I called the day before, came to store twice 1.5hour drive each time. Chef was in store but did not bother to see us in person, we were told " chef was too busy, here is the name card". I called during the day around 12pm and inquired about special cake and the macron tower, the girl picked up the phone sounds impatient, I told her I want to drive by tomorrow and meet the chef around noon to talk about details. She said the chef will be there before 2-3pm and it is OK to come. So with her words, we naively thought we will be able to talk to the chef next day. when we drove 40mins to the store at noon, we were told that we do not have an appointment. The chef was busy and turned us away. If the girl knows what she is trained to do, she should have made the appointment with the chef or at least warn us that knowing we will come the next day. When we arrived, the chef was in store, but saying "too busy" and cannot meet us. I respected your store and drove 3 hours in total to meet you, but you don't even bother to come out 1min to explain? No respect for customers. already drove once to the store and were told need to meet the chef in person to discuss details. That's why I called before my second ride to ensure chef is in store. So we wasted 3 hours on the road, got a chef's name card in the end. Not even seeing him or feeling respected. We got our cakes from los altos where the chef helped us right away and is very flexible. I won't recommend here is you want to get...
Read moreAlexander's Patisserie in downtown Mountain View is a beautiful spot to relax and catch up on work, with coffee and pastries that are undeniably gorgeous. The craftsmanship is top-notch, and each sweet is a feast for the eyes. However, my overall experience landed at a solid 3 stars.
Let's break it down:
The Ambiance: Great for chilling. This is a lovely spot to unwind, grab a coffee, and maybe do some work on your laptop.
The Pastries: A double-edged sword. Visually stunning, these pastries are like tiny works of art. However, they tend to be on the richer and denser side, which might not be for everyone. While the overall quality is there, the taste itself was just okay. They are also quite expensive, which makes the value proposition a bit questionable.
Flavors: Interesting, but imbalanced. I tried the Earl Grey, a chocolate mousse with an orange center. The concept was intriguing, but the orange flavor was muted and didn't quite complement the chocolate as well as I'd hoped. The passion fruit and chai chocolates were decent, but again, nothing that stood out.
The Verdict: Alexander's Patisserie is a great place to grab a coffee and enjoy a beautiful, Instagram-worthy pastry. However, if you're looking for the most flavorful or budget-friendly option, you might want to...

Come prepared to choose from a wide selection of baked buns, pastries, desserts, and drinks. You make your way up to the glass display cases, and the selection process begins! Items are priced a little higher than the norm, but you definitely get what you pay for here. They will place your items in individual bags, and will also provide you with a nice shopping bag for 10 cents.
We were lucky enough to stop by during a weeknight when there were significantly less people than we had been expecting to compete against. With no one waiting in line, we were able to browse their selection freely and decide on a Chocolate Dulce De Leche Kouign Amann, Apple Kouign Amann, and an Almond Croissant. The chocolate pastry was ridiculously flakey, fluffy, and had the perfect amount of dulce de leche frosting on top. The apple pastry was just as impressive, with also the perfect amount of apple goodness on top. I was able to take a few bites of the almond croissant, and it was AMAZING!
Overall, service and pastries were top notch! We'll be back soon to try more of what they have to offer. It's not just fancy shmancy decor here folks. AP's is the real...
