I dined in at Blu’s Burgers for dinner. I ordered the classic burger for $6 and a side salad for $4. The classic burger is ¼ lb of beef on a bun with lettuce, tomato, pickle, onion, and mayonnaise. When I looked inside the burger, I first thought I was missing pieces. However, I shortly realized that the tomato was UNDER the meat patty, which I don’t see often. All the burgers here are grass-fed, which is a huge plus for me. I personally think grass-fed beef tastes better, is healthier, and is more humane. The burger itself was very tasty. The bun tasted moist and warm like it was heated up and not just taken out of a bag. Whether it was the sauce or meat juices, I do not know, but I had a delicious liquid running down my hand and wrist the entire time I devoured my burger. My salad was a steal of a deal. It came in a very large mixing bowl. The leaves were mixed green and purple. This was not a bland iceberg lettuce salad. The green was vibrant and fresh. Mixed in were a generous amount of tomatoes and cucumbers. Some restaurants just have one or two veggies on a salad. Not so with Blu’s Burgers. At Blu’s, I kept getting surprised by tomatoes and cucumbers that were embedded deep into the salad bowl. Given my choice of salad dressing, I chose Italian and was not disappointed. The Italian dressing went very well with the rest of the salad. I also felt healthy eating my salad. The atmosphere in Blu’s is very laid back. Several of the tables and chairs are a silver metallic. There is not much cushion on the chairs, but it is not uncomfortable. There is eclectic artwork in the restaurant, which includes a life-size version of the indomitable snowman, as well as kids’...
Read moreSo first off, staff were friendly and cook times were reliable. Food is ready when they say it will be.
Now where I feel the need to dock a couple stars are in the price and execution category. This place isn't cheap, and they seem to use solid ingredients, but for this price I would expect a little bit better grilling/cooking skills.
The burgers are advertised as "grass-fed", which technically means the cow ate some grass at some point in their life. The burger did not taste 100% grass fed. I have cooked and eaten hundreds of burgers in my life and I can tell. Now, not being 100% grass fed isn't why I am docking a star. It has more to do with paying 100% grass fed prices for the same burger meat you probably get at a Red Robin. It tasted like a pre formed frozen patty that they heated up on a flat top grill.
Now, the burger didn't have a nice crust on it. It didn't taste like the meat was seasoned while it was being grilled and it didn't hit a high enough temperature on the outside to cause a tasty grill crust. This causes a Red Robin quality burger for a gourmet price. Not bad, but definitely not AMAZING. Also, the bun wasn't toasted enough on the inside to give it crunch like you would find from a quality restaurant.
The fries were seasoned very well and cooked perfectly so they do get some credit there, but I can't give a great score to a burger place that can't cook a burger. Two burgers and 3 kids meals get you over $50 for takeout, and I don't think it beats a five-guys quality.
So good, but not GREAT as many of the reviews...
Read moreI have never written a review for anything, ever. But this place... This place deserves the praise. Blu Burgers & Brew is my #1 go-to spot for burgers in the Seattle and greater Seattle area. Anyone can make a burger - but anywhere else I order one, I just end up wishing I was at Blu Burgers & Brew. I personally love a good bleu cheese burger, and this place does it best. I rarely order anything but the namesake "Blu Burger", and I've never been disappointed. That isn't to say that the Blu Burger is the only thing worth getting, because their burgers are always good. The menu isn't very large, but I'll take quality over quantity any day. They know what they're doing and stick to it. They have rotating specials - the Jalapeño Popper burger comes to mind - and there is a black bean burger for you vegetarians out there. The service is always amazing - fast and friendly. They have cut hours back during these covid-19 times, and I really hope they aren't struggling too much as a business. If this place ever closes I'm going to be seriously bummed. If you're on the fence about checking this place out, I hope this was enough to convince you to go. Anyone can have a bad experience anywhere, but take it from me random stranger, anyone who has put up a negative...
