My husband and I have been to a half dozen Mission BBQ's now and have not had a single bad experience whatsoever. We hit BBQ joints in every state along our many random road trips across the Country and have truly fallen in love with Mission BBQ, what they stand for and their amazing food!
The meats are perfectly smoked and seasoned so that you don't even need any of the house made sauces; however, the bbq sauces compliment each meat perfectly! I've attached pictures of the sauces which has a description of each. You'll find an array of regional BBQ sauces which is fun to try! We love several of them! Back to the meats! We've had every meat they offer, including the aloha ribeye. The brisket has never been dry and was full of flavor. Our favorites have been the pulled pork and smoked turkey 🤤 Hands down, best we've constantly have had!
Sweet tea the way it should be, strong and sweet! Lemonade always fresh!
The staff is always very friendly and loves talking to the Veterans and First Responders about their service and very much appreciate everyone! As an extra little thank you, they give those members a side of their delicious peach cobbler! At this particular store the Community Ambassador, Maria is awesome!! She remembered us from stopped in a few weeks prior when we gave them our department patch which she attached to the wall. She asked how our vacation went and we shared stories about our experiences. Maria was extremely down to earth and just an overall great person that you can tell loves her job and the people she has around her!

Read moreI am comparing how Mission BBQ in Murfreesboro used to be vs. the current mgmt came a few monthsago. Used to love going in there as my husband and I are both Veterans. We felt special as host and hostesses in dining room would come around and chat with us and get to know us. They remembered us the next time we came in. The GM would come out from behind counter when things slowed down and also chat with different ones around the room. Staff would ask if you needed a refill of drinks, and ask if you were ready for your dessert. They would bring out our free dessert on a tray with a hand written note saying "Thank you for your service!" Yesterday, I was asked at the register if I was a veteran or first responder. I said veteran, but there was no acknowledgement. When my tray was ready they called my name...I went to pick it up, the cup of dessert (bread pudding) was on my tray with rest of order, not served separately (and warm) as before. By the time I finished my sandwich and sides the bread pudding was cold, good but cold. The only staff in dining room was a younger man who was developmentally slow (thank you for hiring him) but you need to work with him and train him. He walked around spinning/twirling his bar rag in the air after wiping down some tables. He did try to talk to people asking if they put up their Christmas trees yet, and how he needed to buy some presents. This place has gone way down since the previous GM was let go and most of her staff has resigned. Compared to other Mission BBQs, this one needs to regain its "mission"...
Read moreStopped at Mission BBQ for dinner to-go this past Friday and have always been impressed with 100% of the staff wearing masks.
My issue is customers. Only about 50% wore them in, and many don't wear them when approaching the counter for their food after they've picked a seat.
Partitions would be a nice addition, but they really should enforce masks when customers approach the counter, especially considering they open your food for you to check the order at the counter while other people's air just disperses. Do they not even consider the older Veterans coming in on days they offer Vietnam Vets a free sandwich!?
I am a female Veteran, but honestly go there specifically because it's my favorite BBQ & sauces in town. They also give free desserts to Veterans, yet they never ask this female if I am one...and I don't know many Veterans who would ask why their dessert wasn't free. I should mention that my non-Vet husband gets asked about dessert 100% of the time and he's how I even found out about it. He's also thanked for my Service by people greeting the door, even after mentioning that I am the Veteran (and we met after my ETS).
I used to go there fairly often, but not as much anymore. They're steadily losing me as a customer as long as they don't care if I get COVID breath on my food from another patron and I'm not being treated the same as males (I park in their Vet parking spaces when I am only picking up).
I didn't kick arse and take names for 8 years to deal with that ignorance in a place where it should matter to...
