My meatloaf was great. The only reason I am giving 1 star for the food is because of my buddies fish and chips which should be called fried mush and chips. The service from Vince the bartender and Sophia our waitperson were Excellent! My problem was with Brandon. Nice guy and very personable. I explained my buddy hasn't been in a restaurant in quite some time.We seated ourselves and ordered. My friend ordered fish and chips. I ordered the meatloaf. My friend complained the fish wasn't any good. Brandon stopped by and he told him so. Brandon offered to make a new order. My friend declined. The chips (fries)were good as were the hush puppies. My friend and I have both worked in the restaurant business here where we grew up. So we know what we are talking about. My problem is with Brandon not offering to comp my friends meal. The bill came to over $76. His fish and chips $19.95 and my meatloaf $16.95. The rest was beer about $40. Also My friend tipped Sophia well over 20%. So the total experience was good. My friend only drank half of his because he was driving. My friend made a point of going over to Brandon and telling him again about the meal. The place was not busy at all. There were a few people there but, Brandon was basically passing the time with the wait staff at the bar and going to the kitchen. As a person who has been in the business and service industry for decades I know you want happy customers. The offer at the first time my friend complained should have been three fold remake the meal, offer something different at no cost or comp that meal. When my friend talked to him again at the bar he should have automatically comped his meal. As I stated before my meal was great and he had no problem paying for the food that was edible and the beer but, $19.95 is a little much. I know Brandon and the kitchen staff did not catch and bread the fish. Their supplier is the problem that should be addressed and the lack of any comp...
Read moreWe decided to venture out of the Marriott Ocean Watch Villas at Grand Dunes on a wet and windy Saturday night, 16 November 2019, based on recent reviews this place seemed a good choice for a steak dinner.
As with another recent reviewer we were surprised to find the place almost empty at 8.00pm and there was no hostess to greet us despite the written notice on a blackboard inviting us to wait to be seated.
We stood inside the main dining area opposite the bar for 5 minutes whilst the barman ignored us in favour of grooming his beard and eventually a blonde lady server invited us to sit anywhere (there were only two tables occupied at that time).
We ordered the 12oz Dry Run Sirloin Steaks, one well done and one medium well with baked potatoes and salad ($19.95 ea.) and two 16oz. Blue Moon Wheat Beers ($5 ea. )
The meals came out after a reasonable 25 minutes but the server either didn't remember or didn't care who had ordered which steak and got it wrong. She didn't ask who had ordered which steak but we quickly realised she had put them down the wrong way and swapped ourselves. The steaks came with a large steak knife but I can only assume that the waitress, Haley, thought we would hold the steaks with our fingers because she didn't provide any other cutlery or knapkins, all of which I had to get myself from the bar. I also had to get paper napkins for the orange slices from the beer. The baked potatoes were barely warm, certainly not hot, so we sent the full plates back. They obviously microwaved them without scraping out the sour cream which melted, needless to say.
The management suggest 18% - 25% tips, I suggest they fire this waitress or send her for training. She didn't deserve a tip and didn't get one from us.
Although there were hardly any customers, the bin in the men's room was overflowing with paper towels.
I've given this place 3 stars because the steaks and beer were good but the service...
Read moreWent here for the 1st time on Saturday September 27th 2025 with my parents and aunt. My aunt suggested this place because I was craving a burger. We walked in, and a sign said that we can seat ourselves, so we did that. We arrived at around 4:30PM on a saturday. Some people were there, but it wasn't busy. We sat at a booth by the bar. They had lots of Tvs showing all different sports from baseball to football, to soccer. A server greeted us right away and gave us menus. They have game day specials, as well as Happy Hour every day specials. We all started with 4 waters. I ordered the Watermelon Mule, My aunt ordered a whisky, and my parents ordered titos with sprite. We started with chicken nachos and Fried Zuchini. Nachos were very good, as well as the Zuchini, although it was piping hot! For entrees I got the taproom burger with no cheese, My aunt got blue burger, my mom got the freedom burger, and my dad got the special surf burger with shrimp. Food came out in a timely manner. Burgers were cooked to order and very tasty and tender! Enjoyed them! Server also was pleasant and made sure to check on us constantly. food was delicous! Paid via credit card and left a cash tip. Hope to be back again when I am...
