Where should I start? I got a warning not to book this hotel on travel apps, and I ignored them because the location is great and it has a water park and my kids were excited about that. I regret not listening to other reviewers.
This is the dirtiest hotel I've ever seen. I've stayed at $29 motels and they have all been cleaner. There is mold in the shower (I have pictures), leftover coffee in the Keurig from prior guests, floors are gutteral, I don't even know what was on the ground next to the toilet (I have pictures). The beds feel like a bunch of springs with a sheet on top.
Normally, we don't get room refreshes or anything, but since we were at a beach and it was sandy, I decided we'd accept the "full service" housekeeping they offered since we were "here for 5 or more days." Well, the day they said they'd come, we cleaned up our room so it's be easier for them, took our trash out (which was easy since there were 4 rancid trash bins right outside our door), and made sure all our items were out of the way. After going out for the day, we returned at 3 to find there were empty trash bags laying on the sink (again, I have pictures), a broom, and clean towels (thank goodness) piled in the bathroom. So, housekeeping DID come and we assumed they would finish in a bit. 6 o'clock comes, nope. Still the same. Finally, I called the front desk, they said they'd call housekeeping, then 5 min later, called back and asked, "When did you request the service?" I guess they expected me to remind them they told us at check-in we'd be getting it that day. I really hate having to ask, but it became a pattern here. When I left the room, I passed a worker on her walkie saying she thought it wasn't until tomorrow, which is weird since they had clearly come in and put towels, a broom, and empty trash bags there already. It felt dishonest.
This might sound petty if it weren't 85 plus degrees and THE FRIDGE HARDLY WORKED, but all the ice machines were broken. They said we could get ice from the restaurant, then the restaurant told us to go to the 7th floor of the opposite building. My husband literally spent an hour trying to find ice.
Our TV was hardly working, then my husband looked and saw there was no coaxial cable cap. We called the front desk once, then an hour later to remind them they said it would only take a few minutes to fix it. I was happy to go buy a new cable on my own at that point, but they said they'd fix it soon. The maintenance worker who finally did come was extremely friendly and it only took him 5 minutes to fix.
Another day, we needed new towels which we went down to ask for, but the desk was slammed so we decided not to bother them. Eventually, we called and tried to ask for them to put aside some and we'd grab them, but the representative hung up too soon and said they'd bring them to us. 45 min later, no one came. So my husband went down AGAIN and asked for some. They gave us some, but said next time we'd need to bring our other towels.
Towels are no joke around here. I found myself looking at the soaked bathroom floor contemplating slipping or using one of the precious handful of the towels the hotel was willing to lend to us.
Now to the overall customer service which is, as a former hotel receptionist myself, the most important part of ANY business. Every single thing that happened above never came with one half-hearted apology. I kept finding myself apologizing for asking things, but that's probably the former hotel worker in me.
I can't tell you how much I regret not listening to the other reviews. At least the location is great.
Guys, I can't make this...
Read moreMy family and I stayed here for 2 days. I wish I could give this hotel a better rating, but for what we payed for and what we actually got was not up to our standards. The first thing we realized is that we never got a notification email about checking in. As we pull up to the property they are actively working on construction. They hotel is dated. We were trying to find a bathroom to change while our rooms were still being cleaned. The bathrooms on the main floor are disgusting. They both immediately wrench of urine. The stalls had no proper ventilation to get rid of any type of smell. They the toliets were dirty, no toilet paper or hand soap in the bathrooms. There were no rugs, the floor is tile and it is super easy to have children slip. The buttons on the elevator hardly let up so you hope you press the right button to any floor. As we enter our room, I immediately noticed that this is not the room I viewed online. The floor still was covered in sand from the previous guest. We found hair underneath the dinner table. There was a random broom that just was laying on the floor. We got a type out message on our room key that this hotel does not provide housekeeping. We were like what??? What they do not mention is that you have to bring down your used towels that are soaking wet, down to the guest lobby and trade them out. None of the rooms had any type of rugs or place mats so sand was constantly everywhere. The walls are paper thin so you can literally people’s conversation and people constantly opening and sliding the glass door. The staff was very nice and understanding. Grayson, who works at the front desk was very kind and helpful. We ran out of towels and my toddler accidentally peed the bed so I had no way of getting fresh sheets and a gentleman did end up taking the sheets from our room and suppling me with fresh sheets. I was very upset that I had to throw away all of my food because the refrigerator was not keeping our food and drinks cold. The hotel did have quite a lot of amenities but unfortunately, most of them where closed due to the construction. The main reason I picked this hotel was for the water park. No one explains to you via online or when you check in that the water park is at different hotel that is not walkable with 2 young toddlers and all of our belongings. I was extremely disappointed. The beach and the location were very nice. It is super close to grocery stores and restaurants. Here is a actual photo from the beach. The “blue rooms” are the renovated rooms and the yellow rooms are still the outdated rooms. Which you see online is not what your may get. It’s unfortunate because I was really looking forward to staying at this hotel. It is definitely run down and there is not enough staff. I hope that the hotel can be honest with their potential guest before they book and say that they are undergoing renovations and fix majority of the rooms before acceptIng guest also stating that the water park is on a sister property that you...
Read moreHotel Has a lot of activities but maybe due to it being the off-season they are only open during certain times of the week. (Thursday - Sunday) On Google, it shows photos of a lazy river and two indoor hot tubs for the North Shore Hotel but it isn't located in this hotel, it is in the building over. You will go upstairs from the arcade or convenience store. Then there will be 1 pool with water dripping from a ceiling pipe into the water and 2 hot tubs that have so many chemicals it burns your eyes when the jets are turned on. I honestly don't know if it is for both hotels or what. It is peaceful here, with no loud rides or cars. The only complaint is being able to hear your fellow neighbors. You can hear their shower running, occasionally when they talk at "normal" volume, the neighbor's TV, and the music they play. The TV in the room doesn't work, it has its mind turning the volume to max, and changing channels then the TV just dies. The AC is so loud it is like a generator starting and wakes me up randomly at night. If it is windy at night, you can't sleep cause the wind hitting the building is so loud. (I will insert a video of the sound) The toilet barely flushed, took me pushing the handle down 3-4 times for a full flush. After a few times of using the toilet it barely flushed. The toilet handle was loose and didn't flush at all. After investigating, turns out the clip to lift the flap inside the back of the toilet was loose, so we fixed that. 😀 Also, the toilet paper holder is so far back it would be hard for a child to reach it or the elderly. The lady at the service desk was nice during checking-in. The distance to restaurants and stores from the hotel isn't far. The beach is just a trip downstairs and a short walk. The room I was in had a small safe, a dresser, night nightstand, a mini 2-seat table, an iron and ironing board, a hair dryer, and a place to hang your clothes. In the bathroom had 1 extra toilet paper roll, different size towels, and two small travel-size shampoos. There are also 2 sinks, one in the bathroom and one outside the bathroom. There is also a microwave, ice bucket, mini fridge with freezer on top, and a Keurig. There are 2 complimentary coffee pods. Luckily, there is also a broom and dustpan, which helps with all the sand tracked in. The two lamps between the beds have 2 outlets, good for charging your devices. One of the first nights we stayed, someone lightly knocked and tried to open our door at night. I'm not sure if it was by...
