I wanted traditional Japanese food after my trip to the Adam And Eve Outlet so I decided Mulan Japanese sounded like it was an appropriate enough destination. Right when I walked in I was greeted to a statue of Chin Xi Quan, a brown sushi bar, latterns with Kanji on it and a chinese zodiac calander. I've always had an appetite to visit Japan and now I think I can finally kick that off my bucket list (too bad my mother missed out, she decided waiting in a hot car in the parking lot was a better option).
I ordered the unagi sushi roll and a steak bowl. While I was waiting, I noticed a 1,000,000,000 dollar bill hanging on the wall so I knew this place meant business. The food came out fast, so fast I didn't even see the sushi master make the rolls behind the brown sushi counter. The sushi came out hot n fresh and the steak bowl had authentic white rice with no soy sauce or flavors (Traditional Japanese food had none of that) and pieces of steak with no vegetables.
Ancient Japan (most of the time) had many failed crops between the constant invading of Korea and China. So the fact vegetables would come with an authentic Japanese dinner is...
Read moreWent here after a movie night on a Friday - pretty much because almost every other dining places around are closed after 9pm here((( - even on a Friday night;(((The place was quite busy and we decided to eat-in. I tried pho w/shrimp and it was decent though nothing special. My husband had beef w/ fried rice and said it was “OK.” The service was friendly despite the fact that it was almost closing time. Actually, the restaurant stayed open even past their official closing time because customers kept coming in! This town’s restaurant scene continues to confuse us as residents. MB is no longer a farming community (if you’all have not noticed the influx of the infrastructure yet;)) the community keeps expanding, the real estate keeps multiplying yet almost all kitchens in town close b/w 8-9 pm as if MB is under a lockdown. Quite a mystery. Don’t get it & hope this changes to some degree as the demand appears to be there (just from judging the occupancy of the good old Waffle Houses;) past 9 pm on the way back from the Mulan’s to Murrells Inlet. Here’s a Food-for-Thought, and the pun is...
Read moreI usually go to lunch here about twice a month. It’s been about three weeks now since I’ve eaten here. I went today which is a treat for me I loved their hibachi steak and their yum yum sauce was the best in my opinion. I have been eating here for at least 10 years or more (local) and have highly recommended this place in the past, but I went today and ordered my usual steak hibachi with the yum yum sauce and ginger and I must say it was the most disgusting thing I’ve ever tasted. They were very nice and explained that they have changed their sauces, and I explained that it was horrible and I couldn’t eat it. A very nice young lady came out to talk to me and offered to refund my money which I excepted and I explained if they continue with the new recipe I will never be back so very disappointing. I imagine it must be under a new ownership now and I wish the new owner is the best of luck, but I won’t be back. It’s all...
