My husband and I decided to stop and pick up hibachi chicken to-go from Jimmyz today after running a couple of errands. We haven't been back there in quite a while because of what happened the last time we ate there (see my previous review for more info on that). I was quite disappointed, again, and that makes me sad. This USED TO BE my favorite place to eat. He ordered inside, Caitlyn, took his order. He specifically ordered two small HIBACHI chicken bowls .. for the past 10 years this is all we have ever ordered; ZERO chance that it was not specified. She even asked, after he said hibachi, if he wanted teriyaki and he reiterated "no, hibachi chicken please."
The order came out fast which was great, except by the time we drove ALL THE WAY home, got changed and sat down to eat .. it was teriyaki 😤😡.
I called them and let the guy that answered the phone know that they had messed up BOTH of our bowls. He genuinely did not care, I could hear it in his voice. He offered to replace them if we came back in & I asked if they could send it via Door Dash or Uber Eats & he said "we don't do that."
Being on a fixed income, it's rare that we get to go out anywhere to grab something to eat; that is a treat for us. This man continued to tell me that it's all teriyaki chicken unless you ask for hibachi [we know that, which is why we have ALWAYS ordered hibachi]. He also said that my husband needed to "make sure he says hibachi next time." Seriously, this man literally kept insinuating that this was OUR fault & that we didn't ask for hibachi because it's not listed as hibachi on the order. He was not sorry or sympathetic. There was no "Oh my gosh .. I'm SO sorry that this happened." There was no offer to refund our money and give us two bowls free of charge for the inconvenience of it all. [[ we were not looking for anything "free" .. I'm simply saying that most managers of a business would be mortified that they got something wrong that created such an inconvenience & be apologetic & try to make it right ]] Nothing but blaming US for Caitlyn's mistake. He just said "well that's not what it says on the order;" again, as if we didn't know what WE wanted to eat. I understand that things happen; I do. She got it wrong, twice, & he acted like it was just whatever. It is upsetting that it was like nothing to him .. like it was just expected that I should be fine with driving all of the way back there today to fix her mistake. Not even one "I'm sorry."
Beware if you order take out from Jimmyz. Check your order before you leave their restaurant!
The man on the phone said he will replace them and that he made a note of it, & that I can give my name when I/we come in to receive them. That's nice. It doesn't help me now .. when I needed to eat. It doesn't help that we are unable to go elsewhere because we are now out $16 dollars today that we don't have in order to go elsewhere. The amount seems trivial but to us it is not trivial.
We will not be returning to Jimmyz after we pick up our "replacements." There are other places to go that will not speak that way to their customers.
UPDATE Since my review four years ago ... this place has gone SERIOUSLY downhill. They close at 10 and ran out of rice at 8:53 pm ... RAN OUT OF RICE!!
It took almost 45 minutes for us to get PART of our order ... the part that they didn't run out of rice for!!
Their lobby looks like a storage unit & their ice machine was trashed & filthy.
It is no longer one of my favorite restaurants. Save your money ... go to Myabi Jr. or something ... ANYWHERE but here. One of my favorite restaurants in Myrtle Beach! Courteous staff, affordable prices, short wait time on orders, nice decor....and the...
Read moreI called this location to get delivery to my hotel. The first gentleman I spoke to was very nice and explained that they were a little bit busy which I agreed to be put on hold. I waited on the phone for about six or seven minutes and that’s win one of the worst customer service representative answered the phone. The young gentleman sounded very on interested in his job. He must not have known that I was already on hold for a short period of time because is soon as I said I would like to place an order for delivery, he cut me off and asked me to hold. At this time I was completely calm and I told him I would not like to be placed on hold because I’ve already been on hold I just want to simply place the order for delivery. He got very snippy with me and his tone of voice was very unpleasant So instead of addressing his manner I asked to speak to a manager I heard him have a conversation with a gentleman in the background in the person in the background said she will just have to wait put her on hold. I am mediately hung up the phone and called back spoke to the gentleman that I spoke to at first and asked to speak to a manager. The manager gets on the phone it tells me when I’m saying is a lie and the gentleman was not rude whatsoever. Correct me if I’m wrong, but when a customer calls in and asked to speak to a manager they are not asking to speak to a manager for the heck of it. I work on the phones all day when I am at work so customer service is very important when I am giving it out it would somebody is giving it to me. This establishment is very unprofessional even the young lady at the Kings Highway location that I had to call back to get pick up because I don’t mind driving the extra miles to their other location explained to me that She even hates this location and everybody calls and says how rude they are. Customer service means everything I hope management sees this comment and they are able to rectify...
Read moreI frequent this restaurant regularly. The last few times I have ordered, I have not gotten the sauces I asked for. It usually is no big deal. The food is generally on point so I deal with it. I am not one to complain. I always get teriyaki, ginger and I pay for EXTRA yum yum. Thursday night, I ordered a chicken veggie bowl, a side of rice and 2 entrees. I paid for 8 EXTRA yum yums, ordered the teriyaki, ginger with the meal, and paid for one extra ginger. My boyfriend went in to get the food and I told him to please check the bag for the teriyaki and ginger since the last few times I ordered I didn't get any. One of the gingers was in the bag but no teriyaki. When he asked for it the man at the register looked in the bag like they didn't believe him, kind of with attitude, and then gave him the teriyaki. As we were leaving he was telling me about the interaction and said they only gave us 5 yum yum sauces too. So I turned around to go back and get some more. 5 is what should have come with the meal, and I paid for 8 extra. I went back in with the receipt, since I was not the one to pick it up even through it was in my name, to ask for the missing sauces. I spoke with the lady at the register but the man there is who snatched the receipt out of my hand (never gave it back) to make sure I was telling the truth. He grabs the sauces, with attitude, and hands them too me, and I had to walk out the store juggling sauces. He could have at least placed them in a bag for me. That man does not need to be on the front line of your restaurant. Then I get home and my veggie bowl was LOADED with mushrooms, and I asked for none. So I could not even eat it. I also had no onions and asked for onions. There was no way I was going to take it back at that point for the man to give me more attitude. Now the one place that I go to 1-2 times a week has left a bad taste in my mouth because of service and that makes...
