I have never been so appalled by a restaurant experience in my entire life. This quickly turned into a nightmare thanks to their incompetent and disrespectful manager. I was letting someone at my table know that there was a hair in my food and our server, Chris, was very nice and observant, he overhead and went to grab the manager.
This kitchen manager, immediately accused of the hair being mine, as if I’d somehow put it there myself. I was flabbergasted. When I tried to explain that hair in the food is a safety hazard, she brushed me off. Her response? “There were only men working in the kitchen.” As if men don’t shed hair! This is 2025 woman.
But it gets worse. She zoomed in on the camera footage, yes, she stared at it like she was Sherlock Holmes trying to figure out something. What was she looking for? Whether my hair fell in the food? I mean, how is this even remotely professional? I’m looking at her, trying to understand why she’s acting like this, and she still has the nerve to offer me a $2 discount. Are you kidding me? We were a big party, so what was that even going to do? We just wanted an acknowledgment of their mistake and an apology for saying it was ours to begin with.
Then, things took a darker turn when we found another hair! This time in the ice cream. Now it’s serious. I went to the server again and asked to speak to the general manager. Apparently, they don’t work that day. Here’s where she really lost it. She straight up asked me “Which kid was it?” I can’t even begin to describe how condescending and dismissive that was. It doesn’t matter which kid, lady—there’s hair in the food. How hard is that to understand?
She then has the audacity to ask me, (because I have my nails done), she has the ABSOLUTE NERVE to tell me, “You work in nails? What you do if you do someone nail and it’s something in their nail?” I told her I don’t do nails but I would give them a free dessert, a discount? Offer something at least. She told me, “What do you want?” What I should’ve said was, “Do you want to fight?” But instead, when I tried to explain that I wasn’t asking for a freebie, just respect and accountability, she literally ignored me and looked around aimlessly like I wasn’t even speaking. She was taking more customers and looking around at god knows what, while I was speaking to her and I am unsure if she didn’t understand me, but I told her you need to look at me when I am speaking to you, while she still looks cluelessly at a wall:/ I gave up at this point, she clearly was not in the right mind and I was disturbing the other guests that were there and apologized to them as well.
If you’re reading this, owner/GM of Osaka Sushi Buffet—take a long, hard look at the way your staff is representing your business. (There is a picture attached if you want to see) A simple apology and respect go a long way and what I got was none of that.
Honestly, this place doesn’t deserve my business or anyone else’s until serious changes are made.
Zero stars, if I...
Read moreThis was my first time to Osaka. I went alone for dinner on a Saturday night while down in Myrtle. Overall I had a really great experience.
+Most of the food was solidly good, even better than typical for a buffet of its kind +There was a good variety. +It can sometimes be difficult to keep food fresh on a large buffet, so I believe that coming at a busier time work in my favor in that regard as I didn't find the food lacking in freshness. +The staff was mostly friendly and exceptionally responsive, despite some struggling with English communication. +At $25+ tip, and with the excellent selection of sushi and popular (Americanized) chinese and japanese dishes, the value is certainly there from those able to eat a dent into a buffet.
Unfortunately, however, as I rounded out my fourth plate (a desert plate; with an intention to get back up) the server (who had brought my check halfway through my third plate) proceeded to act like I was leaving and not super subtly gave me the feeling that I was being cut off and put out, though this was not made explicit.
I do not know if this was intentional, as the server's mannerisms seemed a bit atypical and I'm sure it was likely a misunderstanding. While these things happen, it is certainly the case that others might have been significantly more put off by this than I was (I really didn't NEED a fifth desert plate, and had I asserted myself a bit more, I might could have gotten it anyway
Aside from feeling pushed out, My visit was also slightly soured by a few things: The salt and pepper shrimp were not deveined, and therefore not immediately ready to eat off the buffet The staff's communication was not always clear
The latter two are more minor gripes; however feeling pushed out was my biggest complaint.
I would consider coming back. I still consider it a good value; however, if I continued having the same experience feeling pushed out of a buffet then I would likely cease coming.
I would recommend if you like Asian buffets. For that type of place it is solidly good assuming you don't experience the issue I did. Looking foreward to going back in the future to see if the negatives I experienced were...
Read moreFirst off, I found it rude when the wiaters rushed past us and everyone else walking to and from the buffet, not once but multiple times during our "dining experience". It was like walking through children trying to be first. What a disaster it would have been if I had brought my disabled mother.
Honestly i started not to even post anything. Until we got home and my niece threw everything up!!
Also I and (surely) everyone else didn't appreciate being crammed in like sardines.
Oh and while I was getting sesame chicken I saw one of the staff raking some of the rice back into the rest of the food that she spilled on the counter. She should have wiped it up wipe a clean towel. And at this time the woman next to me (everyone was elbow to elbow) she was asking the staff lady for some tongs instead of the spoon because the food was so packed up in a mound it was making a mess. I went back to my table and shortly after, I left with my family.
And yes I know it's a buffet it can get crowded but I've never experienced it like I did today.
When running a restarunt you need to know when to say there's enough people in there. How many was in there any way? What about fire safety? If you need more room you should set up an out door patio or move to another location.
As far as the atmosphere goes it was inviting until (like I said) when waiters nearly run you over. Other than that I thought I was alright but I will not return. The staff needs to focus on improving their house hospitality and cleanliness. Overall you've got your work cut out for you, I hope you get your staff under control and clean that place up.
Also I think you should set up caution signs on the raw hibachi bar because I saw a lady eating raw food off her plate while walking around in the buffet while still putting food on her plate. You can check the cameras. I was there earlier today April 13...
