Moulin — Restaurant in Napa

Moulin is a gem! It’s quite new in Napa(during my visit it’s only 7 weeks old). From amazing pastries to excellent coffee they have it all.

Everything looked so good we had a really hard time making decisions. For pastries we got: Matinée cannelle: which is croissant dough bundles with cinnamon sugar on the inside. It’s crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Cinnamon sugar compliments the butteriness. Flan fruit de la passion: it’s like an elegant and elevated Portuguese egg tart. The crust is beautifully layered. The flan on the inside is custardy and omg the passion fruit flavor is so vibrant. It is chefs kiss! Chausson apricots: croissant dough (I believe) with apricot jam on the inside. It is ,first of all, beautiful!! The layers are pretty and also add a lot of texture. The jam is not too sweet just right! Pain au Chocolat: it is buttery but so light! The layers are exquisite. Crispy on the outside and so airy soft on the inside.

For drinks we have: Cappuccinos(coffee beans by Camellia Coffee Roasters): it’s expertly crafted! Deliciously smooth and strong~ good cafe level coffee. Watermelon Shrub: with fermented watermelon, and Topo Chico. The watermelon is locally sourced from Napa Farmers market. It is so refreshing in this hot weather. Sweet but not too sweet.

Everything we got was absolutely delicious! We can’t wait to come back! The place is beautiful with tall ceiling. You can see the bakery and the flour mill, so cool! Service is very friendly, and staff are so knowledgeable. Their recommendations are spot on. The barista is so good at his craft, so definitely get coffee to go with pastries. There are outdoor seatings. The table and chairs really match the vibes of this bakery. Small touch but makes a big difference~

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Moulin Coffee Shop! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with kindness and warmth from their staff, who made me feel right at home. I ordered a latte and was immediately blown away—it was smooth, rich, and perfectly balanced, easily one of the best lattes I’ve ever had.

But the true star of my visit was the egg sandwich. I honestly could not believe how delicious it was. Never in my life have I had an egg sandwich that tasted this good. The eggs were fluffy and full of flavor, the bread was fresh and perfectly toasted, and every bite had that perfect balance of richness and comfort. It wasn’t just breakfast—it was an experience. Flavorful, satisfying, and absolutely unforgettable. I would go back for this egg sandwich every single day if I could.

To top it all off, Moulin has a beautiful patio that makes the experience even more enjoyable. Sitting outside with my latte and that incredible sandwich felt like such a treat.

The pastries were way too over-baked. The hazelnut croissant was so dry that it crumbled to pieces when you touched it. The peach one was a bit more moist, probably due to the peaches, but everything around it was dry and the lamination was barely there. The latte was just not good. I really did not like the taste. It tasted good with the pastry but if you need to add sugar to your coffee, then something it wrong with the coffee. This place is fairly new so I'm hoping this is only growing pains and it will improve over time. I definitely intend to give it another chance in a few months because the location was great and it was very pleasant being there. So I'll...
