I am never one to write about my experience in the places I visit, because usually when you travel from Miami to Naples you know that the customer service is super different in a good way. Well guess... I went on an errand today in Collier County with my husband and mother-in-law and I told him we had to stop by Pinchers which was excellent in the view, food and atmosphere. Excitedly we arrived and the young lady in front with curly hair did not even welcome us, except good afternoon. I told her that we needed a table in front of the water and her response was: how many are there? Three, I answered, he directed us to the table he wanted and told us, your waiter is coming. I told her, Mommy, wait, we need a table so we can see the sea please, her response, there is none available. I told him: I see one available in front and he told me it is for 6 people, there are three of you. I said can you call your manager? He sent me to the waiter and he told me and the young woman told him that we cannot give them that table that is for six people. I'm sorry. He didn't want to call the manager and he saw that we were leaving the establishment and they didn't care. My husband told me. Don't worry, thank you because I knew that it was important to you that everything went well, but let's not let that spoil the moment. We sat at another table and the truth is that it was difficult for me to eat because they were so rude that I was afraid that they would do something to the food. My husband ordered some alligators bites, he says they tasted old, I ordered some shrimp tacos and they were good. But I don't come back again, and it's a shame because I had been visiting them for years, I took my children, grandchildren, family members, but I'm not coming back, I saw the manager approach other tables to ask how everything was and he never came to ours. Sorry Pinchers Naples I don't recommend...
Read moreLet‘s try to be objective because many people seem to like the place…. Host/Hostess: No star, sorry! No welcome, no smile; asking for a table for two - if possible by the window- made the guy even more grumpy. Service: pretty much a low standard; the waiters rush and do what they are hired for: bring out food; unfortunately service is a bit more….not a welcoming atmosphere Location: nicely located by the pier with a view to the waterfront Ambiente: there is style that is called „shabby look“ unfortunately this place has lost its casual ambiente is now really a bit shabby; inventory is not well cleaned/maintained Food: We had variations of shrimp grilled and coconut: Honestly the worst shrimp we ever had: cheap quality little shrimp (formerly deep frozen, now just watery) that had lost all - repeat: all - their taste so that with eyes closed you couldn‘t even tell what it was, let alone shrimp…sorry guys, that was the worst shrimp platter ever!!! And the sides: truck stop niveau - super greasy fries, sweetened beans, warm cole slaw…and so forth. This was really a terrible experience. Drinks: Pinchers offers drinks / beer „two for one“ which seem like a nice treat/ offer, …,in the end the price for one beer is much higher than in any comparable restaurant so that the gracious offer turns out to a small discount….ok, that might look like penny pinching but in light of the bad food etc. it s just the straw that broke camels back.
Dear owners, please go try and check your food once in a while yourselfes . If you as seafood professionals find it anything but bland I‘ d be just as surprised as by the great feed back your restaurants often get. Than again it might just be what people love …fryed and greasy as long as it comes with a...
Read moreWe sat near the water. It was a beautiful day in Naples and the weather was absolutely perfect, the sun was out, barely any cliuds in the sky, 70 degree abd tge breeze was light and pleasnt.
The service was also great and the atmosphere was awesome. The kids tagged along and they felt right at home. The restaurant itself is a little loud with music and with the boats passing by, no one really noticed when my two year old threw a tantrum because he wanted to explore the area rather than sit down and wait for the food to arrive.
With that being said, we hurried and ordered the smoked grouper fish dip and the conch fritters as appetizers.
The fish dip was good, a bit fishy for my taste but if you are ino that kind of taste you will certainly enjoy it. Keep in mind that it does have a small amount of red peppers so there will be a little spicy kick to it but the dip itself isnt actually spicy. Trust me when I say that as I cannot handle spicy food what so ever! The dip was also accompanied by a bunch of delicious crackers.
Now, as for the conch fritters, it was my first time trying it so I don't have anything else to compare it to. My take on them is that they dont have much flavor, the taste was pretty bland. However, I will say that for a fried food item it was not oily, which for me is very important as oil dripping as I eat my food is a NO GO for me.
We also ordered the famous fish and chips but as an entree, which is an Allaskan Pollock, battered and fried served with french fries or cole slaw. I have to admit the fish batter was the most deliciuos I gave ever had in Southwest Florida. It was crunchy, yet soft, full of flavor and of course, not a drop of oil fell...
